Ignore my playtime, I have over 400 hours on Nintnedo Switch, all of which were well spent. Alchemic Dungons DX is likely as close to a Delicious in Dungeon roguelike as we'll get, and a solid foundation for an amazing sequel we will never have the chance to play. This is an almost arcade-y take on the Mystery Dungeon genre with some crafting elements that let you create weapons, armor, and consumables out of materials littered throughout each floor. A large part of the appeal is being able to make the perfect arsenal to make it to the last floor. Sadly, the closest thing to this is Nito Fusion in Touhou Genso Wanderer -RELOADED-, which is a shame, because this take on the Mystery Dungeon genre needs a spiritual successor, if not a true sequel. (Prove me wrong, Q-Cumber Factory! Please develop Alchemic Dungeons 2, with more crafting recipes, an explorable overworld with towns, NPCs, and side-quests!)

Last week I bought the original Alchemic Dungeons on 3DS. Then just yesterday I found out this came out and bought it immediately. It is challenging and fair. Every time I died it was because I screwed up and didn't use the right tactic. I love this game and I plan on playing it many many hours.

Medical herb + mushroom = potion of sleep. LOL Great traditional roguelike. PROS: -Multiple classes increase replay value -Crafting system is clever, easy to learn, yet complex enough to reflect your unique play style -Decent price (especially when there's a sale) CONS: -It's a tad repetitive. Once you figure out what works best, you kind of become a one trick pony. Sure you're limited by the randomness of the item drops, but you never really run out of whatever you could need. -I wasn't a huge fan of the music/SFX. This can be turned down in the options, so I just listened to whatever I wanted. Get it, it's good.

Very good! The first time I played this game was on the 3DS version and it was great!, after some time, I tried searching for this game, and I was surprised when I found that it has a DX version! This game has a lot stuff to play around with, though confusing at first, once you learn a bit, it becomes really fun to toy around with all the different potions, stones, enchantments and more! It would be great if it had something like an expert mode to have a truly challenging time, since mastering the game does make it a bit trivial (unless prophet) Pretty good game, definitely one of my favorites!

I hate crafting, and I wish rather than dropping all these reagents you have to tediously mix together that the game simply dropped the end items for you, but I understand that is a matter of preference and if you're into crafting this is a fun little game at a reasonable price point.

Two best thing about this game is how it flawlessly integrated crafting system as a core idea of the game, and it force you to utilize every item you found effectively. You must understand and utilize all of the items you found!, or you won't beat the game. With 8(9) classes, the replay values are really high too. This is a good game, I enjoy it very much :)

Criminally underrated game. While it looks simple and generic and starts very easy, the final 3 dungeons offer a good challenge. While it seems like a relatively generic roguelike, the crafting system does add a lot of depth to resource management, and while it looks simplistic it will keep you on your toes. I also think the UI is reallly good and easy to sue when you get used to it . It also has a lot of distinct classes (8 initially with a secret one to)

I played many many hours on Nintendo 3DS classic version. This "deluxe versions" has more content. It's really good relaxing game. If you like retro, crafting and dungeons, you must buy. ^^

This game is simple elegance. Essentially a very streamlined take on something like the original Shiren Mystery Dungeon games but now with a deep yet still fairly simple crafting system. In this game it is a lot less about finding some super rare sword, but finding all of the raw materials so you can make it yourself.
Recommended, but with some caveats
Alchemic Dungeons DX is a roguelike developed by Q-Cumber Factory (Ninja Smasher, Ninja Striker) and heavily inspired by the Mistery Dungeon series – It was originally released on Nintendo 3DS in 2014, and this is a revamped version, which is also available on Nintendo Switch. While it’s great to see another title inspired by Mystery Dungeon on PC (which is a rare thing), Alchemic Dungeons DX leaves a bit to be desired when it comes to challenge, in comparison with other roguelikes. If you’re looking for a casual and more laid-back dungeon crawler, this game got you covered, but if you want a difficult challenge to overcome, you may be disappointed.
What sets Alchemic Dungeons DX apart
The best feature of this game is how it is played: the gameplay is heavily focused on crafting your own armors, weapons, potions, etc, instead of finding the best loot. Yes, you can find some extremely rare loot here and there, but you can’t rely on them if you want to beat a level. Gladly, there are recipes for everything you can craft (some unlocked by default and other unlocks as you progress), so no need to memorize the dozens of combinations possible. As you might have thought, there’s a lot of management to do, so keep that in mind.
Levels structure
Each level is composed by several dungeon floors, and the ‘Level 0’ is a tutorial. The first actual level can be easily beaten – and so are the first three levels in fact – that means that it takes about three to four hours for the game to start to get challenging (on ‘Level 4’), and even when it gets harder, is far from the same difficulty seen on games like Tales of Maj’Eyal, ADOM, Nethack, etc.
Controls
While Alchemic Dungeons DX is clearly made for the casual crowd, I don’t get it why it doesn’t support mouse. You can play it with a controller or a keyboard just fine though, and almost every key is rebindable (you can’t rebind only the left and right controls for the crafting inventory). While the keyboard control scheme is a bit clunky, you can perform every action with just a few key presses, which is nice.
Classes and replay value
There are eight classes to choose: Fighter, Hunter, Dawrf, Witch, Valkyrie, Ninja, Kunoichi, Elf. Each one plays very differently, which is something I appreciate. But still, the Steam version doesn’t have achievements, so there are fewer incentives to beat the game with each class, for instance. I also think that the replay value may not be so great in the end, since the procedural generation here is very basic and every generated dungeon feels too familiar and “safe” (there are no surprises on each run).
Conclusion
Alchemic Dungeons DX is a fun little casual game, and I can recommend it only if you’re looking for a more laid-back dungeon crawler – no hardcore stuff here. The lack of achievements and the barely functional Steam Overlay support (you can only see your notifications, but can’t ‘Shift + Tab’ or take screenshots) devalues this game. On the other hand, I think Alchemic Dungeons DX can be a great purchase if you own a Nintendo Switch – this is a relaxing title after all, perfect for mobile platforms like the Switch. If you don’t own one and want to get it on Steam, be aware of these issues I’ve described and get it while on sale. Pros: * Relaxing and laid-back gameplay * The crafting system is very well done * You can save and exit anytime * A lot of classes to choose * It’s one of the very few games inspired by Mystery Dungeon on PC Cons: * It takes a while to get challenging. Steamrolling everything in the beginning isn't great * Procedural Generation is very basic, making all runs feels the same * Lack of achievements gives little reason to beat the game with each class * Barely functional Steam Overlay compatibility
