Yeah, I can't recommend this mainly because it feels like a really long demo rather than a full game. While there are enjoyable platforming challenges and Zelda-esque environmental puzzles, it's all over too quickly to really eave much of an impact on you. No only that, but even while I was playing the game, I felt that Mayfly's moveset needed work as she has a lot of good moves but can't really chain them together. The one section that could qualify as a boss encounter is also a nightmare of confused ideas. Story is virtually none to speak of, and the lore feels somewhat poorly translated and like it adds up to nothing. Plus, the game just kind of ends, once you get your last wing back and escape the boss, and leaves you off with a To Be Continued sign. Now that it's been 4 years since the last update on that sequel, I think there's practically no chance of that happening. Back when Glass Wing was practically the only 3D Platformer on the system, I could see it being worth buying, but so many years later and so many platformers introduced in the meantime, this most recent incarnation of the game hasn't much room to stand on. Only pick it up if you're deadly curious and it's on sale.

Charming game. Interesting concept. It really doesn't hold your hand in any way. But...I'm not a fan of starting all the way back at the beginning of a level when something kills me and redoing all the parkour. It's just tedious. It made me quit right out of there and hit the uninstall button. Add some more save points to it and I'll change my recommendation and maybe try to finish it. I also don't know what's up with Steam and logging my playtime, I played this game longer than fourteen minutes.

Had a great time with this game! The whimsical yet moody atmosphere is really engaging, and the world is very imaginative. With a plethora of puzzle-solving elements, the game reminds me a lot of old school platformers from the PS1/N64 era. The game is also very speedrunner friendly. Mayfly, the main character, moves very swiftly - the abilities you unlock along the way help you perform acrobatic maneuvers that feel great when you nail a sequence of jumps perfectly. I also really like the character designs and story. Mayfly is very expressive and has many different animations that react depending on the situation. There are subtle details such as Mayfly looking in the direction of objects of interest while solving puzzles. Ferace is also a very imposing villain that clearly illustrates what is at stake. My main critique would be that some of the game mechanics could have been communicated more effectively. There were a few times where I got stuck with a puzzle from not fully understanding some of the controls or how the abilities worked. Not to say there should be more handholding, but I believe more instances of instructive level design could alleviate the frustration factor for first time players. I really enjoyed solving the puzzles, especially the platforming sequences. However, some of them did have solutions which I found a little counterintuitive. For example, in one section of the game, you have to deliberately electrocute yourself to charge up a tuning fork. It seemed a little immersion breaking from a story perspective. Thankfully, the nearby autosave and the lack of penalties for dying does allow for some out-of-the-box experimentation. There were also a few bugs I encountered - one of which caused a softlock from going out of bounds in the final area of the game. At least I was easily able to continue where I left off without any significant loss in progress. The game is on the shorter side, but that's not a bad thing. This actually works to its advantage as it makes the game very replayable. Despite this, without giving too much away, the ending was rather abrupt, and I was hoping the narrative would leave off on a more resolving story beat. Overall, for having such a small development team, the game is very impressive. If you're looking for a quick, retro-style platforming experience, I would recommend it.

It's like a puzzle game crossed with a precision platformer, where the puzzle is to find which objects are interactive when the screen is way too dark, and the platforming is more luck than precision. With some bonus immortal enemies that like to knock you down, then stand on you so you get knocked around again as soon as you stand up, and a handful of trial-and-error controls and a few jumpscares.

At the very start of the game. I could see a potential so I took my time at the hub. It is also used as a menu. I was charmed by the music just from first few notes. I also adored somehow-nostalgic good-old Unity design. I mistakenly changed my dubs English to Japanese and i'm convinced myself this is the best version of the main antagonist. It all started marvelous. Hub was pretty chill and i thought i would have to turn back here and do some inventory management and stuff since i had no clue what the game was about i imagined the hub as Majula from Dark Souls 2 which is a comfy place you sometimes come back to chill and level up your character. Even the music is similiar though. I see that as a missed oppurtunity. The opening was too long. Slowly walking under some platforms or idly walking while the demon was talking was genious for a few seconds but it gets boring after that. It could be some kind of a tutorial area which you could atleast learn platforming 101 without really using your brain while listening to a pretty long monologue. But still, It all started well. Sadly, it gets boring after a few areas. Same assets have been used again and again. The opening made me see a higher potential and expect a better level design. But somehow level design and enemy placements are the only downsides. Puzzles were not bad but pretty rewarding. Unfortunately, this rewarding feeling doesn't encourage you to play the game. If you feel stuck, you'll give up. You'll feel like you're playing in the same level from the start of the game. I still appreciate the dev adding more moves which are not so easy to learn to the character which makes it a kind of "git gud" type of game. Overall, It's a decent but weird type itch.io game. Worth a try for half an hour but not more. Otherwise it will lose it's magic. https://youtu.be/kx-miaqStxE?si=EK7WC_WLwicc946k

Wings of Glass is a complete overhaul of the developers older game "Glass Wing" I believe. Its a very beautiful platformer, build in a unique world. Theres no handholding, so figuring out environmental hazards is up to you, but there was nothing I would consider hard.

An interesting blend of polished and janky, Wings of Glass is a 3D platformer that's more unique through the context of its ideas rather than the actual ideas themselves. Jumping doesn't feel entirely polished in terms of animation and sound, but it functions solidly enough and the game does a fantastic job at correcting small mistakes and keeping platforming fluid in ways much bigger games can't manage. In spite of that, it's not a game I'd recommend to a casual platformer fan. While the actual action of Wings of Glass isn't really difficult, a lot of its puzzles, thanks to their minimal explanation of mechanics, take a good amount of gaming intuition to tackle. Of course, because of this lack of explanation, the game's otherwise straightforward puzzles and navigation feel more satisfying than usual to overcome. If you really love 3D platformers with puzzles or have played a lot of games and just want something kind of different, then this is likely to offer an enjoyable, short experience for you, although it might not satisfy completely due to just how suddenly the game rolls its credits. Not that its length is a problem at all - the pacing's just a bit odd. At any rate, if the trailer is at all appealing to you, just give the game a try - it's short enough to fit in a lazy weekend afternoon, so it's easy to tick off right away without getting stacked on top of your already massive backlog.

Wings of Glass is a beautiful puzzle platformer with intriguing puzzles and absolutely no hand holding. While the path to discovering answers to enigmatic problems can be frustrating, it's also extremely rewarding when you succeed. And the gorgeous art you see along the way makes pressing forward ever worth it.
