An example of an excellent remaster. I mean, "remasturd". I'll focus more on the first game, AVGN Adventures, since it's the one I've just finished and was most interested in how it would be changed (and also while my memories are fresh). Played on normal difficulty. New visuals are nice, and new backgrounds are really cool. Nothing was fuсked up in the gameplay department, and was actually improved in some regards. More annoying and unfair sections have been tweaked a bit, easy and normal difficulties have multiple places where deathblocks have been swapped with spiked balls that don't oneshot you (no worries, hardcore players, just play on Old School or above and you'll get the standard BS), portable beer keg and F-bombs from ASSimilation are a great addition, and I overall like and respect the concern shown towards more casual players (it still won't be a walk in the park though). Original AVGN Adventures was fun, but it had some shitty moments (because it intentionally had the goal of frustrating and making the player angry), but here I had a much more enjoyable experience, and normal difficulty actually felt like a goddamn normal difficulty level. Shame we lost the "Conglaturation" level completed screen though, and I think the destructible blocks could have been highlighted better when using Mike. Quality of life changes are appreciated. Level select screen now shows found shit pickles and cameos counter (which is now always the future nerd, because rights and all that. He's nice however, his items tend to be more useful, and new meta jokes aren't bad), picking up superscope and triple shot powerups doesn't lock you to playing as Nerd anymore, you can change and use other characters without losing the powerups, unlockable characters can now attack while climbing the ladders (I didn't have to use this anywhere, but it's a nice little bonus), you can toggle a turbo button option in the settings menu. + rep for not fixing and still allowing players to skip deathblock hell section in LJN level just like in the original game. I still have ASSimilation and a completely new chapter (also another plus for this remaster) to beat, but I have zero concerns that they'll somehow be bad, first game has already proved itself. And all this without being overpriced as shit? In these times? Unbelievable. Post completion edit: I stand corrected, it's all well done. Assimilation is basically the same (probably because they didn't have to re-design the whole game from scratch), only minor changes. Some sections in a couple of levels were tuned a bit, water doesn't drown out the music too much (so now you can actually hear "Croc Conundrum" playing in-game) Area 52 no longer has any references to the AVGN movie (most definitely rights again), Nostalgia Critic was swapped with Fred Fucks, final boss was changed visually and made easier. New chapter is great! 1st level is more or less standard, sorta like LJN and Virtual Insanity levels, while the next 2 levels have their own individual gimmicks that I won't go into details for due to spoilers, and also a totally new boss fight (that I accidentally cheesed through because I didn't know that the Nerd's skin that you get for collecting all cartridges has a built-in triple shot lol). Good way to finish the game, and going the extra mile for a remaster is appreciated. Game's absolutely worth the money, I highly recommend.
