I first played Long Gone Days when there was only a chapter to its name, but I remember being very impressed. Now, with more content in my hands, I can offer a more informed review. Story: Wonderful! There are themes of personal freedom, oppression and morality. All done with such a delicate touch that it doesn’t come off as patronising. Characters: Burke and Adair stole my heart, but they’re all endearing in their own way. Visuals: The sprites and backgrounds are done in a beautiful pixel style. The character portraits, the CGs and the visuals during the shooting part of the game are anime style (sort of, it feels a bit more mature than that). Some things may change in the final version of the game, but I have complete trust in the developers’ sense of style. Gameplay: I’d say it’s a mix of turn-based shooter, exploration and visual novel (different actions/answers lead to different outcomes). There is quite a bit of text to read, but it’s very engaging, so it never feels like a core. Should you buy it? The game isn’t complete, so you may wonder if it’s worth it to buy it. Well, that’s highly subjective, but in my opinion the current chapters are worth the price already. I bought this game at full prize, and if they ever publish it on mobile, I’m going to buy it there too :)
