This is the latest game published by Laush Studio, and I have to say that it is much different from their usual games. Unlike games like Trap Arena or Dangerous Lands, this is not an arena shooter, but rather an exploratory shooter with a simple but rather effective plot. We are a sort of special agent who has been sent to a sort of military base where some strange experiments have been conducted on prisoners, who have all turned into hideous monsters. We have to fight our way inside the facility, amongst both fast and ferocious monsters, and pretty aggressive human soldiers. This game reminded me of Half Life for various reasons. First of all, the ambience and the game flow are rather similar to those of Half Life 1. Then, like in both Half Life 1 and 2, there is a good variety of gameplay situations: sometimes we have to shoot, sometimes we have to solve very simple puzzles, sometimes we have to do some platforming, sometimes we have to avoid mines, and sometimes we even have to fight bosses. All these features, of course, cannot even slightly compete with their Half Life counterparts, but still they have been a nice surprise, I didn't expect such depth. Monsters and soldiers are well known pre-made assets, but they are good looking. In particular I liked the weapons. They are beautiful both to see and to use, and there is a good variety of them. Unfortunately we can carry just two guns at once, but it is very easy to find new weapons scattered all over the facility. And what I appreciated the most is that each weapon comes with different variants equipped with different add-ons, like extended clips, silencers, telescopic sights, and so on. This feature in particular reminded me of the weapon mods you can find in the games of Metro 2033 series. Unfortunately, this game is also full of bugs, and I don't expect them to be fixed. Animations are clunky, the models can clip through the ground, including enemies, and some objects do not behave as expected, like mines not blowing up when you shoot them. Also, don't expect a spectacular ending, because everything ends abruptly right in the middle of the action. So, overall, do I recommend this game? Yes, but only if you want to try something different from the usual games of the same publisher, and if you feel to forgive all these little flaws.
Cheers guys!
