Please play it, or at least buy it to support its development. It’s one of those games that comes around once every twenty years. It’s leaving a mark on me just as Outer Wilds did back in the day—two different games but extremely similar at the same time. They both masterfully exploit the sense of wonder, both in gameplay and visually. It’s a concentrate of ideas, sounds, and U-turns. It’s my Game of the Year (or rather, among my top games of the generation). I’m truly grateful to Mizuguchi, who, besides being my favorite game designer along with Kojima, is also an incredible teacher. Even though Humanity isn’t directly his creation, it’s clearly inspired by his work; his influence is evident, and he has shaped a fantastic team. I think the press has underestimated it. Perhaps due to the rush to finish it, they didn’t spend much time collecting all the Goldy, which are crucial to fully appreciating the design of this title. For me, it deserves the highest rating, at least on my scale where a 10 is reserved for those titles that I know won’t age, not even in 60 years. Music, art direction, ideas—it’s all perfect in its imperfections, just like humanity.
