Black cat is a very short horror game heavily inspired by the tale of Edgar Allan Poe. As a game in general, it is a bit rough and buggy, and as a horror game, it relies too much on jumpscares which are not relevant for the main plot. However, I think this game shows some potential. I felt anxiety in certain occasions, because the atmosphere is well built. Suffocating darkness, creepy sounds coming from all around you, malignant presences perpetually haunting you, that black cat creepy as hell... all this is very cool stuff. There was a moment in particular which really creeped me out! I won't do spoilers, of course. Also, collectibles are a nice (and cute!) idea, as well as the only enemy that really threatens you in the game: it has interesting and scary mechanics. If I were in the devs, I would invest more in the creepy atmosphere and in the psychological horror, rather than on jumpscares. In my opinion, that would be more in line with the original tale of Poe. That said, I think this game deserves some trust, and that it could become VERY good with the right attention to details. It would be awesome with a silent hill atmosphere, for example. So, let's show our appreciation to the devs, I think they could make great things with their imagination!
