Best summary for this game would be "quick Shin Megami Tensei Fix", even though I found it closer to the first Persona game (no world war, no summoning program, no alignment or story threatening choices). But I digress. Story impressed me. Not by its complexity, thematics or character but how quick you are thrown in the thick of it and let you play. Do not take it wrong, I pretty much liked it and was a refreshing breeze from some other games (yes, Shin Megami Tensei,Persona and friends, I think of you). For the what and where, curse afflict a small town and monsters roam free. You have to kill the old vengeful ghost to end the curse in one night. It never goes higher than that for ten hours, more or less. But, hey, it works. I will take it. Combats are also quick and dangerous. Forget the Press-Turn system, you have a classic J-RPG system with two small twist. You can equip monsters (sorry Arcana) to boost your stats/use skills and your target act right after you if you hit one of its resistance or miss him. Nothing ground breaking but it works. And, like in its model, hitting a weakness hurt a lot and can change the tide of the battle. Dungeons are your traditional first person dungeon crawler : labyrinth with treasures, traps and lots of combat. Characters are okayish. Music is cool but forgettable. Graphics are meh. Who am I kidding ? If you are here, it is (certainly) like me : to have some fun recruiting demons to fuse them later and have your very own optimised killing machine. Again, it works and still fun to play with. So do yourself a favour and go play it. It is a fun ride, not too short or too long, and satisfy this "Shin Megami Tensei itch".
