allright, it's cheap. it works, and it has some classic (yet heavy handed) robot overlord humour.
is it hard on hard, like it should? yes.
does it have some balancing issues? yes.
does it get dickishly hard on the last two waves? absolutely.
do the AI change their path based on the least resistance? yes.
does the slow, sluggish controls that catch on walls make travelling from one place to another a chore? yes.
does the ai feature absolute bulletsponges that take 4 wall thick defences and 4+ rocket turrets to stop? yes.
does the ai dig through walls instead of going through mazes? yes.
clearly, the game makes it impossible on purpose to finish some levels above easy untill you get windmills, upgrades and other weapons at level 13 or 14, and you already have to get to that.
i dont like having to drop my difficulty level, just because adjusting the AI TO YOUR SETUP IS TOO HARD.
i came, kinda expecting a turret defence game with some management, and i got the bare minimum.
ai is non-existent: the meatbags will mine a resource to depletion, then go inactive; it's told nowhere, unless you specifically go check on them (which requires moving around on the bigger maps, see my controls problem).
there's a button on the hud (too small) to call them ALL to another task. if you have "guards" in place, they will come too, since you cant task them to hold a position.
the meatbags will attack hostiles behind walls (thx god, that does not trigger them) when armed. all the time, constantly. if you, like me, have them all with eye lasers because you can, it's going to be annoying as hell.
meatbags will walk in the way of the hostile bots. no running, no reaction to combat at all; this is why i'm going to disarm them from now on...using ai with weapons might lead to a full team wipeout and you cant remove items you added.
when the meatbags die, you dont get to know who died. great, so you cant tell (bc 5px tall pixies are hard to identify) if you lost a good meatbag. that's something i'd like to have on the same screen as the next one....
because you cant go back once you acknowledge you've lost someone (fucking put their card on the screen gdmnit).
all in all, dont recommend unless it's like 2 bucks or less. mostly because fuck that map design that doesnt allow you to move above walls or enjoy a godview, and fuck that "ai".
