My overall opinion is this: I'm glad I played this game despite all the negative reviews but I understand and feel frustrated myself that it's not actually finished despite it showing version 1 and not 0.
What I liked:
- The game is playable without big performance issues and without getting stuck on quests or achievements.
- The story is interesting.
- It's the same fun you'll find in exploring, building, and recruiting villagers to build a village (and even several here), like in other dynasty games like Medieval Dynasty or Sengoku Dynasty.
- The Wild West atmosphere is there.
- The transportation mechanism, where you have to buy a wagon, plot a trade route, and plan guards to protect your convoy, is brilliant.
What needs to be improved quickly:
- Graphical bugs (plants flying in the air is not serious :) )
- Clarify in the interface how to craft multiple items (for those still looking, instead of left-clicking to craft a single item, you have to right-click and then you can choose the number of items to craft)
- Be able to find quest givers more easily (personally, I stumbled across the quests "You're Back!" and "Roger's Elevator"; I thought these quests no longer existed)
What I hope he'll have soon enough to resume playing:
- The end of the story (this is the minimum to have a true version 1 and feel like I've finished the game for me)
- That all game mechanics are implemented, because currently:
. Only the Tinker's Workbench actually exists, even by spending tech points; the others cannot be built.
. That all mines exist (currently, there are only stone and iron mines, the coal mine is present but cannot be unlocked, and the other mines are not present, even by spending tech points to unlock them).
. That villagers can perform all tasks necessary for the village to be self-sufficient (for example, currently the villager at the barn can only make animal feed and seeds, they cannot make fertilizer or tend to the fields adjacent to the barn, villagers at the workshop can only make furniture when we would prefer them to make tools, etc.).
. That transportation can be automated once created to operate at a regular frequency without our intervention.
Conclusion:
In summary, I enjoyed playing this game. I was able to complete all the quests without getting stuck (list of quests: https://wild-west-dynasty.fandom.com/wiki/Quests) and obtain all the achievements (list of achievements: https://truesteamachievements.com/game/Wild-West-Dynasty/achievements), which are easy to obtain in the sense that you just have to follow the quests to unlock them (except for the "Owl the DIY queen" achievement, which requires you to remember to ask Owl for help so that she can repair the workshop for you when you're repairing the village, and that's almost all that's left to repair).
I'm stopping the game here, even though I could have fun exploring more, building other cities like I've already started, etc., because I want to do that later when the game is truly finished.
Thank you for this Dynasty game, even if it still needs improvement to stand proudly alongside Medieval Dynasty and Sengoku Dynasty, and good luck, don't give up on it!
