I am working a lot with PD howler by now, PD howler 10 is easier to use, It is quite a lot easier to fugure ot what you are doing on brushes and what will be the result of generated output. The dearest competition for pd howler 10 is pd howler 9.6.After an exhaustive review I can see that most of the features are present achievable or do-able on Howler 9.6 because both of them are so heavily charged with features. Although there are some the can really manke the difference . Howler awakes the artist in me!, cause there are lots of little gizmos to play with. You can use gimp, and inskcape.. and get many many things done on them. But on howler they run better and faster most of the time. although there are some very basic things that I still ws doing with gimp, I have finnaly found the way to do it inside pd howler. There were some features 9.6 that did not worked well at 100% of the time and for my pleasure they work flawlessly now the paint curve is one of them. I do think that 3D texture could look a little softer when rendered, that is something to be improved a lot, but for simple web things is good enough. I don’t like the new interface. Personally it looks dull for me, (this grey stuff lacks personality I feel) wish there were skins for the icons and general interfacewith more color, at present the different layouts are not warm enough, have to find how to personalize that . This software is a little monster that takes time to discover and more time to master. I don’t have the feeling of great improvement from 9.6 to 10, though GUi is better arranged and things are easier to find. but if you take the time to realize what a fantastic software this is, I am sure you will gladly give the money to this company so they can make it better and better.
