Its a recommendation but not a very strong one. Traveler's game has a lot of charm to make up for its flaws, but ultimately its going to put off a lot of people. The writing and premise are good, a novel concept of an RTS Visual Novel hybrid set in an online game akin to "Totally Accurate Battlegrounds" used as a chat room by disaffected youths and outcasts. Its prose is nice, there's a lot of neat touches to sell the reality of the online game, some users don't know how to start the game, some quit out mid game, etc. The actual RTS section is fine, not very complex but it doesn't really need to be, both in the game and within the fiction of the game its more of a thing to do in the background whilst you talk. It is a bit bullshit how other players can just have better troops than you, doubly so cause you only unlock better armies through winning battles. And unfortunately as the game progresses even these troop unlocks arent enough to make the repetitiveness of the combat start to wear you down. Thats another thing, as the game progresses a lot of characters are introduced to have a little story arc and then basically disappear. The pacing in general is a bit slow and the game feels overstretched. Ive been playing for 11 hours and feel like it would have made a much better 7/8 hour game. And finally the main flaw is the translation, which I do feel a bit bad for complaining about cause mandarin-english translations are hard and expensive and the development team seems to be like 6 people, but man some dialogues are hard to follow, its a good thing the memo function keeps track of it but even that feels somewhat machine translated. I'll still recommend the game, its very unique and the first few hours are legitimately quite good, but apparently the second part of the game is releasing later this year and Im doubtful I'll play it, I think I have had my fill
