So, I was lurking around and found this game on sale. The name alone was obscure enough to make me interested, so I got the game without any high expectations. After having played it for a bit, I can say that this game is better than I would have ever expected. The story is surprisingly interesting and the dialogs are funny at times. I am still not quite sure if this game is serious or just meant as a joke and shitpost. Normally, I never play any visual novels but this one is a bit different. Story wise it’s your classical love triangle but the story has some depth to it and the plot keeps you interested. It’s also kinda sad. The base game does NOT have any hentai scenes. This was a nice change of things, as you could focus entirely on the story. If you really wish to, you can download the hentai-patch. For my playthrough, I am not planning to do so. If you can get this game on sale then it might be worth it. Maybe I am just making myself like it more than I should, because I cannot live with this fate that I have brought upon myself. Now, it says that the playtime is 2-4 hours. But as you might have seen, I way over that. Now why is that? I think I just read slowly. I enjoy every word. Every new sentence that shows up evokes something inside of me. Fear. Happiness. Sadness. You name it. This game has shown me that you don’t have to be horny. Sometimes it’s okay to just wanting to be loved, to be happy. Life is full of hard decisions. Of heartache. Hardships. But that is the price you pay. The price we all pay for the enjoyment life can give us. Without it, what would we have? One cannot just expect happiness after happiness. One fun moment to another. Sadness is an important part of our lives. Without it we will become numb to the little things that made us happy. Without it we would become stale, trying to seek greater and greater things to a point where nothing will be able to make us happy anymore. So, be sad. Be sad so that you can be happy again. And why stop there? Make others happy. Ask your friends if they want to hang out, make someone a gift, help somebody out, compliment someone’s work. These things may seem small, tiny. Meaningless. But they might make someone’s day just a little bit better. A little bit more worthwhile. These gestures are why you wake up in the morning and keep going. We all will find our end someday. So, let’s make the best out of it. I also like the background music, but I wished there was a bit more variety. Great work on the voiceovers as well. At the moment the voiceovers are only in Japanese. Conclusion: Trap Shrine was a better game then I would have ever thought! It has nice art, nice music and most importantly a great story. EDIT: I have partly written this review without finishing the entire game. Now that I have; the story is deeper than the story of some triple-A games. What the hell. A lot of work and love was put into this game. Respectalbe. EDIT2: I thought I finished the game but it just keeps going. This is an eternal heaven. I counted 82 distinctive plot-twists so far. It ended on a "to be continued". I want, no, I NEED to know how it ends. 9.5/10 – Can recommend.
