Cafe Stella done by good ol Yuzusoft and published by NekoNyan.
It starts of with Takamine Kousei living is life, when suddenly he gets hit by car and dies. Or died he really die?
After that he wakes up again at the same point he did wake up the last morning.
Going through his normal life of this repeating day he already went through, he suddenly saw a cat that stared at him. He decides to follow that cat, and to his suprise, the cat starts talking and right after that he saw a girl with a big scythe above him before he got hit with said scythe.
Then we wakes up again in a Cafe of some sort and then he was informed by the death goddess herself, Kanna Akizuki that he hasn't avoided his death yet.
In order to escape his grisly fate, Kousei must assist the death goddess with her work. And naturally, this means the opening of a café together.
so this time the VN has even it's own screenshot maker.
Nozomi has nanami's voice and also the same energy as nanami.
And Kanna and has my favourite voice actress behind her, Shimizu Ai.
Kanna has also the same energy as Makoto Sanjou from Noble Works as well as almost the same facial expressions.
It makes her instantly the best girl for me, period.
The Humour in this VN, at many points is absolutely spot on and hits home quite hard especially with Kanna, her jokes, voice acting etc.
And just overall did the Voice Actresses here a fantastic Job.
The whole hiring of new employes, redesigning of the Cafe, the Uniforms and coming up with new Ideas for recipes reminds me a lot of Love Sweet Garnish. and that's a good thing.
but gotta say the music isn't all that great.
I have heared much better from yuzusoft.. Easily the worst Music overall in a Yuzusoft title.
Also that protagonist.. He gets better in the Character Specific Routes, but in the Common Route he was sometimes just unbearable.
Easily the worst Yuzusoft Protagonist so far.
He is pretty needy and desperate, because literally throughout the whole plot Kousei always has this "I'm single, I'm horny and desperate for a girlfriend behavior and aura."
On top of it he has zero confidence in himself keeps getting flustered for the simplest reasons.
Also a lot of the times the kisses and sex scenes were shown is as if the guy is just really hungry and extremely desperate for intimate interactions with girls. To say I didn't like that would be understated. To portrait this guy as a Ladies man is just straight up ridiculous.
It also didn't help that the girls did call him a pervert, gigolo and whatnot for like a million times over and over again. Same as the all of the guys at school were ultra jealous whenever he got a girlfriend. A bit of that is always fine, but this in here way way to much, especially on Natsume's route.
At first the relationship between kanna and the MC doesn't feel any good. It's just akward.
can't say I didn't see it coming because of the whole grim reaper thing, but still.
The story to the whole grim reaper thing and kanna is ok, but not anything special. I guess it is made so that Kanna can stay in this world forever with Kousei.
To make a very happy Route and ending. I'am not complaining about a Happy ending, but that compromises the quality of the whole shinigami setup.
this makes kanna now free from her burden, and I must say I like her way more the way she is now.
finaly no more pretending and lies and what not in her feelings.
overall her route was Decent.
but at many points before the turning point, the interaction between Kanna and Kousei was just quite awkward.
and I thought at many of those points, does this really have to be, is this necessary?
But I can say the ending to her route was top. Kanna's Route is also the True Route I would say. I liked her route quite a bit.
Suzune's short Route was actually quite cute and I liked how proactive she was.
Nozomi's Route is more about the shrine and something called a big red butterfly. Something that is haunting the Sumizome Shrine for a long time. And this story evolves around this plot and trying to get rid of the red butterfly which shouldn't be just destroyed by Kanna's scythe as she explained it. It could cause something similar to what the Protagonist is capable of.
There is a lot more to it, but I don't want to spoiler it for you people.
Mei's Route I just simply skipped because I had zero interest in her and her "Story".
My Heroine ranking would be: 1: Kanna, 2: Nozomi, 3: Suzune, 4: Natsume, 5: Mei
Also the only Girls in this VN I can see falling in Love with the Protagonist are Kanna and Nozomi, for everyone else it just felt super forced.
I can say now with confidence that Cafe Stella is so far Yuzusoft's Worst title
it is again a hurdle on that many VN's fail, the Protagonist.
Overall I liked Cafe Stella, but it has it's fair shares of problems.
The Highest possible score I can give Cafe Stella is a 7/10.
Those are my words to Cafe Stella to Shinigami no Chou
