Do I recommend the game?
I pressed "Yes" but "No" would also be right for me. Why?
The game took me 47 hours and that is way to long for such a game.
In the End there is a time limit and at that point a decision is made who is winning.
#=>Why "YES":
-Cool Idea
-made by a small team
-a bit like stargate the TV series but only in the basic idea of traveling through gates
-a lot of details in many aspects of the game
-base building a rebuilding an improvements were good.
#=>Why also "No"?
-Performance issues have been so far quick fixed and not really solved. Just limit Bots and I still get the info to buy more bots 20/20. So, there might be some bugs. I played on a high-performance system so the bug or the resulting problems of the fix were more annoying than the performance bug. If you choose to limit something in one part of the game you also have to check, why did we need that performance in the first place? Maintenance overkill and sure it’s cute to see a robot for anything rolling over the map over and over, but I think 20 robots for a whole base isn’t enough.
And they do more than maintenance. So, build, fill food and all that stuff... So, if you limit the robots, you also should limit the tasks you want to be done or limit the number of equipment that needs maintenance or introduces self-maintenance/automation. Well, it’s a fine line finding the right mix.
The later you are in the game, the more annoying things happen. In the beginning there are not enough resources for reinforced planets. And you can spend so many...Level 1-10 and there seem to be no difference.
So, I managed to get rid of the Scorbs and there were 3 other fractions. One very peaceful, one neutral and one hostile. I managed to get the most planets and there was less than 50% of the map covered by my green "friend". So, they could not get 51% of all planets. And then the time limit came and told me that the green friendly guy won the game. So, I am not a bad looser if he was really better in something. But he wasn’t.
And I could not see anywhere during the game how hopeful it is... I was in Ranking all the time on first place Rank and in the end, I am losing?!? It was very strange and i think the balance in the game isn’t quite right.
Without information how the game works or intermediate goals / Stats, it is impossible to win. And it´s not that well explained. So unlike in Civilisation or Settler Games… In those you know how far away are you from a military victory or economical and so on. So that is a bit frustrating in the end. You most people wont play it twice, because its a black box.
The Money earning part... Well patents... At some point in the game i hoped that i could automate this very boring click to gain some money with the 999 patents for whatever. Sorry, that is getting very fast very boring any even annoying. I think a good point to automate would have been after you invented everything...
Like you did it with the energy part. That was every good... even when those get lost a lot during game. (Also with no attacks)
What is also a bitter point in the game? So that was it? All is invented... And i am still losing the game? No technological victory? Also, XP doesn’t play any role... So, no victory if all of your stuff is high level XP? No!
And why do in Reinforce any planet it that number or level or how secured your planets are doesn’t matter?
It seems a waste of time. So the kinds of victory are not very fun creating.
What about the Kinds of invasion, emancipation (...)?
You can go to a friendly or hostile planet. Well and we don’t want to know how are our chances to be successful?
And how will be any invasion possible with max. 5 members per Team while you often need some kind of special type personal. And even with 5 soldiers...seems to be not well not well thought out. So, if there are more than 5 people on the planet I will lose. Of course I'm exaggerating. But there is felt exuberant point.
That part could have been a lot more fun. At the moment you cant see anything... no military intelligence in advance. To checking your chances. Just the melt down very boring fight that can be skipped...maybe at that point you also saw yourself that it won’t be any fun. Also, no simple animation unlike in other games.
My Conclusion:
Too much time was spent on minor heart and soul character details and their changes in the game and the later you are in the game the more slopy it gets. The same game with other focal points could be a real AAA title. But when a small group of developers create something new that has advantages and disadvantages. And my unimportant opinion is that the negative results from this.
