Ziggurat 2 Bewertungen

Very interesting - and kinda flawed in many tiny ways. Ziggurat 2 is a game I remember finishing back then, but peeking at my savegames, I only did so on easy difficulty. Replaying it even just for a while, I immediately know why. I have a LOT of hours in this game, and yet I just can't recommend it. There's something frustrating about it. Maybe it's the way you constantly run out of mana, when trying to use your weapons especially on the first floors, maybe it's the weird anemic game feel due to missing enemy reactions (all you usually get is a health bar going down. One that's often enough a bit too big as well), or the amount of attacks coming your way almost constantly with little visual clarity, making dodging an exhausting affair. Maybe it's the fact that boss fights have a habit of passively spamming adds to flood the arena (which tempts you into wasting your precious mana.) You'll get more through drops - after spending it to try and thin the herds, which means the boss itself doesn't get damaged. Frustrating. And to be honest, I think it's all of those factors combining, for me. The game runs super well, looks good, and plays smoothly. But it's constantly poking your side while you play it. I really wish I liked it more, and I am aware that this genre is really hard to nail, but I still can't recommend it in good faith.
