Not as much variety as something like Slay the Spire but a very fun game!

It was quite surprising for the time, and playing it now still feels fresh and different enough from many roguelikes. The visuals are amazing. The random component plays a vital role, since given the limited choices at the beginning of each run, "strategizing" consists of adapting rather than guiding the progress towards a specific build. The negative aspect of this is that trying and retrying in the search for a favorable beginning seems unavoidable, and may require too much patience. I have happily gotten to both endings in normal mode, I doubt I will have the patience to progress until the end of hard mode.

A neat little game, very addictive despite its simple mechanics. The only issue I have with it is the fact that coolest items are locked behind grindy achievements that are there just to torment you rather than testing you as a player. If that wasn't a factor, then the game would be a solid 9.5 out of 10, but otherwise it dropped the rating (in my eyes) to 7.5 out of 10. Still a solid game worth exploring. What the game does well: Combat, puzzles, balance between difficulties, artstyle (chef's kiss), music, atmosphere and immersion, boss mechanics, item balance across tiers, entertainment factor, replayability and enemy sfx. What the game does horribly: Daily challenges (some are inherently setting you on an impossible quest), Achievement grind. That's it! You read that right, only 2 downsides, which is mindblowingly amazing. P.S. If you're a casual player who doesn't want to sink hundreds of hours to unlock all items, I'd suggest achievement unlocker, because the most entertaining items that elevate the game to a new level are locked behind grindfest.
