Huge card game fan. Debatable if this is a card game. I see a lot of work went into this. I am impressed. But I'll say it- I couldn't get past the GUI and did not have the patience to play around with it. I tip my hate to the dozens of users who did and enjoy it. Didn't like the dev getting so defensive in the Discussion section or his negative review responses. Simple as that. I will not be intimidated.

I'm not a huge fan of Card Games or TCGs, but I enjoyed playing this one. The story is really short but has replayability. The art is good and the gameplay feels right. There're a lot of cards to choose and different strategies to implement. I hope the developer adds more cards in the future.

This is not a card game, it's a turn based battle game with cards as avatars but no deck, no drawing, barely any customizing. Refund for me. I recommend the game because the dev does seem passionate about his product, despite it not being my cup of tea.

First time card game player here. I really enjoy this game. The pace is well done, the game isn't too difficult, and I personally like that there is no RNG. The game is simple but not too simple, and kind of strategic but not too strategic, so it works well and is enjoyable, which I appreciate. The little cutscenes are well done in between battles, the menu and overall layout are easy to deal with and the game's graphics are clean. I REALLY like the voice acting as well, great job on that! Highly recommended. You'll enjoy yourself playing this.

De'Vine: The Card Battles is based on the card minigame of its predecessor - De'Vine: World of Shadows. The card game was already good in World of Shadows, but here it became amazing. With 300+ cards and new card traits that weren't in World of Shadows, there are countless deck builds you can try. This will be an easy to learn but hard to master experience, you will find yourself discovering new strategies even when you are at the very end of the game. RNG has little to no impact in this game, you will pre-select your cards for each battle, so strategy is what matters most to achieve victory in this game. Storywise, the game is set in the same universe of the previous game, obviously. You can find mention and/or cards about characters present in World of Shadows, which is nice if you played it. I won't spoil it but it is an interesting story, specially if you completed and liked World of Shadows. This game has an extremely good price per game value, it is very cheap, I played and enjoyed it more than I played games that cost 10x more than its price. And if you have not played World of Shadows, you will probably need more time than I needed to fully complete the game, increasing even further the game value. Personally, I think this game should be more expensive, you can see that the developer put a lot of effort and love into creating the De'Vine universe. Honestly I don't get these less than 1 hour negative reviews, people didn't even give a chance to the game. Yes, the interface is a little confusing at first, just take your time to get used to it and to the game controls and you will be good to go. One thing you should know is that the game is completely singleplayer, at least for now. I don't mind that, I actually prefer PvE experience, but some people expect multiplayer, so consider yourself warned. Also, the developer is extremely responsive, he quickly fixes bugs when people report it to him, he added a lot of content since the release of the game, he always answered my questions about game mechanics and he can even give you hints about strategies, because he plays it too. TLDR: De'Vine: The Card Battles is a solid singleplayer card game with very high value and I fully recommend it.

About an hour in and already sucked into the story and the interface. Fun card battles with seemingly endless possibilities. Very happy with this De'Vine The Card Battles and will be telling my friends. Good work! Excited to continue playing! Also a great follow up game to De'Vine: World of Shadows. Can't go wrong for $3.99. Highly recommend!

I'm a sucker for card games. In the developer's previous game, I often found myself playing to collect more cards, rather than the main game. To my surprise, the developer decided to expand upon the mini-game and make it a main feature. I've been hooked for the past few days playing this when I've spent more money for less enjoyment. There are aspects of the game that do require some trial and error to understand the specific mechanics, such as damage reduction traits only work on defense, but there is some fun strategy involved in making an effective team. There isn't a card sorting system yet, but the developer is working on getting that out soon. All in all, if you like card games, then you should definitely give this one a try. You might like it more than you'd think.

So I've played this game on all difficulties and started the tower of ascension(sp?). I gotta say I played the original DeVine and the card game was my favorite part of it. This card game is a little different and the interface is way more friendly. It fun to hunt down cards and try to great different combinations depending on the match up you're facing. I'd have to say this game is unquestionably worth the money. I've wasted way more money on games with half the entertainment value. DeVine games may have become my new favorite low res games to play. I hope we see a lot more from this developer(s).

As of 2022, this is a really good card game with well thought out mechanics and progression. There are enough story lines and combat styles to keep you interest throughout the game. Many of the prior negative reviews centered on the user interface (UI): the developer actually revamped and upgraded the entire UI, so the game is much more streamlined and easy to follow. There is a tutorial and there is also a menu available which tells you what the game mechanics are (press ctrl to pull it up). Really good game, double bonus in that the achievements are achievable, and triple bonus that you're supporting an indie developer.

Admittedly the game does have the seed of an interesting card battle system, but currently it lacks a lot of thee stuff needed to make playing the game fun outside of the speculative potential of the actual concept in play. The UI is weird and doesn't use standard design, there is no real tutorial, no skip function, etc. Maybe play it after a lot of updates, but personally i'll wait for a long in the hopes that these problems would be fixed in game.
