A friend introduced me to this game. The game was initially enjoyable; playing with friends is always fun. I then purchased my own copy and as I played noticed some cracks in the game that made the game more frustrating then anything else. Mainly, the grab mechanics are inconsistent. I have played now for about 6 hours and have had enough time to observe all of the ups and downs of the game. The inconsistency of the grab mechanics, the main action performed by characters, almost seems random. After spending this much time playing, I figured I would be able to find a way to make the flow of game play consistent, but nope.
What this leads to is the feeling of the potential for accomplishing each level being based on the roll of some unseen random dice roll rather than being able to improve one's skill via being able to master the game mechanics. Perhaps something the developers can improve on. I did enjoy the clunky game play, although again while the clunky game play adds to the overall enjoyment, the inconsistency of the mechanics leads to events and situations which seem to have no rhyme or reason as well as consistency behind them, leading to an inability to improve skills as the mechanics cannot be mastered due to inconsistency.
Specifics:
*) Reaching for an item directly in front of the character, whether there be one or more grabbable items, and no items are grabbed. (Meaning you must move away from the items and then re-approach and try again, but to no avail: this happens a lot).
*) Getting stuck in a doorway carrying a mid-sized item, where the physics engine seems to purposely work against you (as if the character still has momentum while standing still and acts as a timer-to-resolution instead of allowing the player to immediately step back and try again).
