Hard Reset: Exile DLC DLC

FIVE I tell you FIVE NEW LEVELS. But at least they're really pretty and free. Hard Reset: Exile is a DLC expansion to Hard Rest by Flying Wild Hog. As the starting quip suggests it add a total of five new levels taking place after the main campaign's seven levels, as well as some new enemies. Taking place in Barrens outside the last human city of Bezoar, Major Fletcher is back again to slowly walk through really pretty levels shooting the same kinds of robots, with some newbies, over and over with the same weapons. It practically acts as more Hard Reset, but is notable for it's new location and attempts to add variety in the arena design. Gameplay of Hard Reset: Exile is practically exactly the same as the base game, to the point where if you were playing the main game while this free DLC is mounted you'll just immediately go to the DLC's levels will all your upgrades carried over. As such the most notable things added on a gameplay level are the few new enemies, ranging from flying robots, flying police cars, and non-flying robot scoprions. Along with the new boss fight at the end of all it. Another thing is the arena design as there's more gimmicks built into the arenas, like crushers and with the new setting comes new locations to fight in instead of just the same cyberpunk allies over and over again. Speaking of the new setting. Exile takes place outside of Bezoar in the wastelands of the Barrens and therefore it looks extremely different from the previous levels in the base game. You basically got a desert wasteland filled with junkyards and scrap, along with tons of grimy and abandoned factories to explore. It's great that even for a really tiny DLC that Exlie is, there was still a ton of effort put into the environment design. Overall, Exile is a fine DLC to Hard Reset. While it doesn't do much to the gameplay in things like new weapons and more variety of enemies, as only adding 3 on the already pretty small cast of robots is pretty minuscule. The more elaborate arena design and the setting is welcome change of pace and adds a bit more to the game in a positive way. Plus since nowadays you legit cannot get Hard Reset on Steam without getting this DLC, it's basically just more levels of a flawed but still somewhat fun game.
