Design your material what you want. Quick learning, making high quality and etc. Just I worry about "Adobe"

I was worried when Adobe bought Allegorithmic but so far the Apocalypse has not come to pass and the software is still available as perpetual licence on steam with sales and loyalty bonus as before.

It's good. You can connect rectangles to get some techy graphs and on top it spits out images.

This software is so much more than material authoring. Not only it is handy to make PBR mats that look amazing, it is also easy to setup trim-sheets, hair atlases and much more procedurally. There are even uses we hadn't the chance to figure out.
Tis' Houdini for everything 2D. And it works faster.

I love use substance painter/designer, but sinse theres (probabily) not going have any 2020 version without pay the expensive/ridiculous adobe cloud i recomend start looking for another texture/material program.
Edit (2020):
Nevermind, they made a 2020 version on steam.
Its a great program to texture 3d assets, i super recomend it.
Adobe dont screw up this time with this program :)

I have used Designer and have hundreds if not thousands of hours into it, I use for my small company and I used with larger companies before and later...... glad Adobe decided to be smart and still sell licenses, I will revise my review.
This program is one of the best for making textures, for gaming and film. I find it easy to use, and I love that we can take a hand full of textures and have hundreds or more variations from trim sheets, to modular textures. I love the fact that we can expose parameters inside of game engines... .
One thing I wish that the engine support with substances would be as good as it used to be , it still has alot of work, and many games cant wait years for this to be fixed, smaller indie dev manage there assets better in that regard. SO Substance is an amazing tool, but the main con is they need to step up there support inside of engines like Unity, Unreal..more so Unity. its lacking... the plug in , is very buggy still.. we complained for ov er a year, yet they thought mobile support was more important than shader support for Unity terrain.. which made no sense to anyone.... Since the top assets mostly are environment..... related..So Substance you have an amazing tool but get your act in gear for Unity..... plug in...

Substance Designer is the standard for creating procedural materials fast. You can't go wrong with it.

Ignoring the Adobe debacle, this is an amazing tool if you're already familiar with node based procedural workflow.
--- IF your Designer is running poorly(lags, crashes), DISABLE Threaded Optimization on your Nvidia control panel ---

Substance Painter is a better option for creating fast textures. But if you want to create textures in procedural mode and extremely small when the game is downloaded, Substance Designer is a better option.
