8/10 - Not as good as 2, but still a lot of fun.

If you liked Saints Row 1 and 2, and then played this. You'd be disappointed. However, if you have played GTA Online, thenn all the madness of this world would seem more grounded. I liked Viola a lot, wished they could have used her more. The last boss made no sense. 12/10.

Saints Row: The Third Remastered is a chaotic, explosive sandbox adventure that delivers unapologetically over-the-top action with a fresh coat of visual polish. Developed by Volition and remastered by Sperasoft, this version of the 2011 open-world cult favorite offers an improved and more modern presentation while preserving the outrageous tone, humor, and gameplay that made the original so beloved. The remaster aims to reintroduce players to Steelport, the city where gang wars, superhero antics, and absurd missions collide in a violent but hilarious playground of excess. What it offers is not just nostalgia, but a full-blown reminder of when open-world games weren’t afraid to be completely ridiculous. Set in a fictional city under the control of the criminal organization known as The Syndicate, Saints Row: The Third Remastered puts players in the role of the Boss, leader of the now media-savvy, fame-hungry Third Street Saints. Unlike other crime-themed sandbox games that take a more serious tone, this game completely leans into absurdity—from skydiving into buildings to using inflatable weapons and fighting off mascots in a Tron-like simulation. The narrative is loose but entertaining, never taking itself too seriously. Its over-the-top humor and satirical approach to modern pop culture and action tropes give the experience a unique personality, making it stand out even among modern open-world titles. What separates this remaster from the original is the visual overhaul. Almost every texture has been redone, lighting and shadow systems have been upgraded, and models for characters, vehicles, and the city itself have seen significant improvements. Steelport looks far more detailed, with better reflections, weather effects, and environmental design that bring the world closer to the standards of newer-generation consoles and PCs. Character faces are more expressive, particle effects are richer, and the overall presentation feels crisp and current, even if the game’s age still shows through in some animations and geometry. It’s not a complete remake, but the work done is substantial enough to elevate the original’s visual shortcomings while maintaining its cartoonishly exaggerated style. Gameplay-wise, Saints Row: The Third Remastered remains fast, fluid, and delightfully chaotic. The core mechanics include third-person shooting, melee combat, and vehicle traversal, all of which feel responsive and satisfying. The mission design is incredibly varied, featuring everything from standard gang shootouts to insurance fraud mini-games, where players throw themselves into traffic for money. Each mission often escalates into complete mayhem, offering consistent moments of surprise and hilarity. Weapon customization, character personalization, and a broad range of vehicles add to the feeling that this is a game where player expression is not just encouraged—it’s fundamental. The remastered version also includes all previously released DLC, expanding the base experience with more missions, vehicles, and absurd gear. This added content rounds out the package nicely, making it the definitive edition of the game. Whether you're hijacking jets, battling zombies, or rampaging through the streets in a tank disguised as a mascot parade, the game rarely lets up on its commitment to unpredictable fun. Co-op mode returns as well, allowing players to tackle missions and roam the city in pairs. This mode adds even more laughs and chaos, reinforcing the game’s emphasis on shared insanity over structured design. That said, the game is not without its flaws. Despite the graphical upgrades, some elements—such as the physics engine and AI—remain dated. Enemies often behave erratically or get stuck in environments, and cars sometimes react awkwardly during high-speed chases. The humor, while a standout feature for many, can also be polarizing. It often relies on crude jokes, juvenile innuendos, and outdated stereotypes, which may not land with every player. Additionally, compared to newer sandbox games, Saints Row: The Third Remastered lacks the depth of emergent systems or world interactivity, favoring scripted chaos over systemic complexity. Performance on PC is generally solid, especially with the added benefit of higher frame rates, 4K resolution support, and faster load times. However, occasional bugs and stutters may still crop up depending on hardware and settings, especially during large-scale explosions or densely populated scenes. Still, the improvements make this version a much more pleasant and stable experience than its original release on older hardware. In the end, Saints Row: The Third Remastered succeeds by fully embracing what made the original a standout in the open-world genre. It’s loud, ridiculous, juvenile, and completely unrestrained, but that’s precisely its charm. The remaster doesn’t reinvent the experience—it celebrates it, delivering a cleaned-up and more technically impressive version of a game that never cared much for realism or convention. It’s a chaotic power fantasy with a satirical edge, offering hours of absurd fun for players willing to embrace its irreverent spirit. For fans of explosive open-world escapism, this remaster is a satisfying, definitive return to one of the most over-the-top games of its time. Rating: 8/10

Such a blast reliving old memories of this game whilst making new ones. Love how funny and obscene it can get. Buggy as hell but geez, it's a bucket load of fun. Running down npcs and getting a thumbs up from a gimp is a dream come true.

this is the only sandbox that actually made me want to play every single last drop of content it has (well, also saints row IV), seriously. this is a stupidly fun game and despite that its not as fleshed out as IV or 2, its still a very enjoyable and memorable game, how can you hate it? now here i realize that i should probably mention a few things of this specific remaster of the game, the graphics look amazing, no doubt about it, but definitively not as polished as it should be, although im one of those idiots that think bugs are funny and actually make up some of the charm of the og saints row, stuff like framerate inconsistency, model discrepancy in cutscenes and some ocassional crashes are something you should look out for, nothing that makes it unplayable, but it adds some discomfort, but yeah, graphics look really good for the most part, vehicle customization is where it really shines as well, candy paint went from being the crappiest looking material to the best one, yadda yadda its alright, id still recommend playing with this if you care about graphics

Should have stayed closer to SR2 with its level of wacky stuff instead of trying to amp up the level from the last game. SR2 already seperated SR from being labeled a "GTA Clone" and gave it its own identity. SR3 and as an extention SR4 threw all its work out the window 6/10

Play wise, this ain't worth it. So many missions, especially assassinations, are bugged!! Some are easier, have become easier, some became harder. Again, game made for the developers rather than for the gamers. Oh, let me not forget the shitty a$$ filters that make it look like you're flying inside Mexico, at the heat of the summer. Unflyable mess. This game used to be fun.... now it's just frustrating and an insult to anyone with more than a q-tip IQ. Stick to the original, these devs are wicked morons... like other spoiled brats, destroyed their own toys but in this case, the spoiled brats won because they also destroyed the toys of everyone else. The useless spoiled needed money, so now everyone has to suffer. This is what this game is. Rewarding half-ass work. Buggy hell volition are experts at; it's maddening. Thanks for the polishing but fu for the buggy, untested... or poorly tested... unfinished, hardly playable mess. Didn't Gat out of Hell teach you otherwise useless morons anything?? You'd think they made things better, nope!! More bugs, more neglect, more destruction of all greatest games ever made. To long time players interested in this: Stick to the original or wait until it is below $10 - if you are a player of the non-remastered, this thing is just gonna anger you, saying: Why does Volition keep turning greats games into crappy ones? It ain't worth it. Now everyone who plays will never believe the original is anywhere as good as it really is. Wait until you try and get to get inside a tank in a haste... now, no matter what, you walk up to it... regardless. It's actually rare that a remaster, destroys a masterpiece. This just made it cheap.... but you pay more!! Hire real fn talent!! Not spoiled losers.

Remastered, BS. More bugs than the original. Im so frustrated about this because the 3rd was always my favorite and i have the OG installed and it runs smoother, less logic bugs, less texture disappearances, less npcs breaking immersion. Go back and play your own game for 5 hours and see for yourself...
