Having finished the game to full completion, I kind of wish I hadn't wasted so much time on it. I bought it looking for some good gay romance with a murder mystery plot, as the description seemed to imply, and got neither of those things. The sex scenes are too repetitive, too frequent, and too long for my tastes. There's a bunch of nasty stuff and things that made me lose my suspension of disbelief. This guy just goes in dry several times or uses butter as lube. He talks about poop and gives anatomical lessons in dialogue while they're in the middle of doing it. These men in the story can go for multiple rounds back to back with no break in between. The biggest problem is the protagonist himself, who acts like an entitled child who can't take no for an answer. He begs the guys to cook for him and buy him stuff all the time. He literally rapes all four of the love interests, sometimes multiple times, before they start to consent. The story is very convoluted and underdeveloped. If you're skipping through the sex scenes because they aren't for you, you're not going to find much else there. Some characters like Ryu and Hiroyuki do get some good scenes. Others unfortunately do not, including the protagonist. There are multiple villains we're told are behind everything who appear so rarely in the game that they don't even have sprites and very little characterization beyond being evil. Ryu's route is the only one where the main cast do enough detective work to actually explain what is going on with some of the people who come to them for help. The protagonist's backstory is a bunch of weird edgy nonsense that never gets explained. It seems like they're setting up a sequel or world building for a series, but as far as I know, that sequel has never materialized.

While i havent finished any character paths yet, i feel like this game is rather dry. it also suffers from some toxic yaoi tropes. objectifying, even to women surprisingly despite being a yaoi game; noncon/rape in some routes; slightly homophobic characters; its not great, or at the very least not for me. read into it before buying it. its also not worth the price tag. if you can get it on sale then all the power to you. id say a product of its time but it came out in 2015.

I genuinely think this game changed my life. After a Summer of being a shut-in and completing this game, my confidence and happiness went up and my social anxiety went away?? On a more serious note, this game is really good. The amount of CGs is amazing, and the small details really add to the experience. It was my first visual novel and I feel like it's almost spoilt me, there are so many save slots, and a lot of details that I don't think other visual novels have (save character lines, courtesy mute when you press escape). I spent HOURS analyzing Ryu's route and relaying info from the game to my friends too. The plot seems confusing at first (thanks to unreliable narrator Haru, AKA out main character), but as you play the routes, things start to piece together and make sense in the best way possible. I recommend playing Ryu's route last as I think it gives the most closure and is the most positive ending. I really enjoyed listening to the voice actors notes once i finished the game, too. I found Ryu and Haru's voice actors to be particularly entertaining. They also have special birthday voicelines! The joy I felt when I opened the game on Ryu's birthday to have a special line delivered by Haru about how it's Ryu's birthday!! I think it's a really special feature of this game that you can get to know even a little about the people behind it. However, I will admit that maybe it's not for everyone. The main story starts off because MC is sent to investigate a drug, though it's not mentioned enough for it to be in your face all the time, it gives way to many other iffy things. The first main point in the game involves snuff films, and later on there is child ab-se/neglect, s-xual abuse through a parent, and one of the routes (spoiler for which one:
Kouichi Inui
) involves psuedo incest and r-pe. His extra scene was also a bit disturbing, as in inhumane. It isn't the worst thing ever though, compared to what I've heard about other BLNVs. I found it worth it to play through because the characters were so in-depth and the routes were really interesting (I'm a sucker for introspection and character analysis, there is an attention to detail in this game). Pros: -Voice acting is really good -Individual character routes are in depth and are amusing -Game features (gallery for CGs, sprites, saved voice lines, courtesy mute, body hair options etc) -Just the right amount psychological for someone who's never played a game liek this before -Get insight from people who worked on the game -A lot of save slots -Music is a 10/10!!! Passion made it onto my top 5 songs! Cons: -Some themes can be iffy -'Other end's can get a bit repetitive, you should find a guide online -The background vocals for h-scenes might trigger misophonia/get repetitive (you can turn this off/down in settings!) -Hiroshis 'true end' left me feeling empty
