I have been enjoying this game so far. it is a challenging, satisfying tower defence game that has left me frustrated at my own incompetence. I'd recommend giving this a go if you enjoy tower defence games, fun 8-bit art, or blowing up goblins.

I'm really enjoying this game. It gives a cool twist on the classic Tower Defence genre - where you control the towers, adding an extra layer to the gameplay - and does it with a satisfying style. It seems to be the dev's first foray into the Steam Store, and he's done a good job of it. If you like simple, fun, addictive strategy games, it's worth checking out.

The Wizard's Tower is not for beginners to the TD genre. 11 hours game time played, mainly trying to get achievements, "beating" the game took roughly 6 or 7 hours. Achievement progress, you'll see a sudden drop. This is because of a difficulty spike at the start of the game I believe by level 4 map 1. As of this moment I'm 3% of the 6% achievements achieved in this game. Game Play: Select unique tower spells prior to enter the level. Build generators and towers while in the said level. Meet the minimum challenge requirements, EX: "Only use 3 generators, 2 fire towers, and 2 lightning towers". The towers attack via you clicking on the enemy in an area that's within range of your towers. You have to change which element you have selected, in otherwords if you keep the key binding the same you'll be pressing the 1,2,3 buttons alot. You have unique greater spells, that allow for such things as Morphing the enemy, reset cooldowns, slow down the enemy. Graphics: They take a while to get used to and at times it can be difficult to get a good idea of the terrain. Overall this is a solid TD for the price (I got it on a super sale), but it is in no way a friendly TD game for new individuals to the genre.

The Wizard's Tower is a great little game suited to everyone with interest in Tower Defence. Looking for your first Tower Defence game? I recommend. Fancy yourself as a battle hardened Tower Defence master? You will sweat trying to 5 star these levels on Insanity difficulty. You are given a sizeable range of different options with regards to different turrets, which then give you the option of several spells, both single target or AOE options, which interact differently depending on what other towers you are using. Regardless of your play style, whether you think attack is the best defence and you want full damage, or your a critical thinker and you want to slow your enemies and bide your time, this game has you covered. There is a lot to learn about this game through the different uses of towers and how different towers and abilities interact with different spells. The different levels layout can also have an effect on what i considered to be my best set up for my style, keeping the need to alternate different spells and ensuring every level provides a different challenge. It can take a few rounds to work this out, but with tight, challenging level design, it's a game that keeps you wanting to retry and get more stars after completing the level. If i was to be hyper critical, i'd say that the UI can at first glance be rather confusing, but that's easily resolved ensuring you take the tutorial before you begin to play, which i highly recommend as i cannot overstate the importance of the extra bonus towers enough and the tutorial demonstrates these well. I'd also recommend taking a few rounds to work out how best to implement your own key binds, as especially for higher difficulties, there is a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it! This game provides an angle regardless of what you're playing for. The developer has done a great job at making an easy on the eye Tower Defence, with enough variation in level design and range of spells to keep you playing for hours. I am no master of the Tower Defence genre but i believe this would be a fantastic place to start for newcomers and also provide a stern test for veterans. If your desire is to blast a lot of enemies with a lot of fire on easy mode and steam roll the game? You can. Want to collect all 5 stars and beat the game at its best? You better bring your best, because you will need it!
