Take a deck-building rogue-like, brutal fast-paced action, bullet-hell attack patterns, the grid-based combat of strategy games, an absolutely beautiful art style, and shove it all in a blender to get One Step From Eden. It takes all of the best parts of so many genres to make something truly special and very fun. I only wish the game had more story, because the characters and world all seem so interesting.

Brilliant game, with incredible depth and polish. Not for the faint of heart (or slow of hand and eye); but if you are patient with yourself -- or just don't take the game too seriously -- then there is a lot of fun to be had here. :)

Mix cards, tiles, war veteran choices, touhou insanity and a semblance of a story and you will get a tomato soup. But, if it gets balanced properly it will be a well-balanced tomato soup. This game isn't a tomato soup but it is nonetheless a good game.

It's wild this game hasn't sold more. It's a great rougelike, the soundtrack is a banger, tons of replayability.

This game looked super super cool, and getting into it I was worried that it wouldn't be for me. It throws a lot of stuff at you right off the bat, and a lot of the gameplay mechanics aren't super intuitive/aren't really explained. Once I gave it some time though, I really got hooked on the game. It's still pretty difficult for me, but I'm able to beat the game now and can start experimenting with other builds. Once you start getting the hang of things, it becomes really fun, you just need to get through those first few sessions of not really knowing what's happening. The game is still plenty challenging, and there's other routes and characters and a hell pass mode that I have yet to complete, but I'm honestly having fun just playing through as Saffron over and over and trying to win more consistently with different decks. It's kind of addicting. The only other negative is that to avoid some of the enemy patterns, you need to move quite quickly, which was a strain on my wrists at first, but I'm getting used to that also.
