I have found that this game being scary depends on the kind of games that scare you. This game is pretty unique though. It sure scared me. I have always found it really fun to get my friends to play it and see how they react. I've been seeing some hate towards this game lately. Just because it doesn't scare you doesn't mean it's not a good game. Now the big build up with mini scares and one big scare at the end- I understand why people might think it's lazy or bad game design. But it's kinda the whole point. Now $5? Is just fine. Any higher I think would be overpriced. Try this game out!
