⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
Puzzle Agent 2 is the eerie, offbeat sequel to Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent, developed by Telltale Games. Picking up immediately after the cliffhanger of the original, this installment continues FBI agent Nelson Tethers’ investigation into the bizarre happenings of Scoggins, Minnesota — blending cryptic puzzles, surreal storytelling, and a generous dose of dark, dry humor. While it maintains the quirky charm of the first game, it stumbles a bit in pacing and puzzle variety.
🔍 Story & Atmosphere
Agent Tethers returns to the snowbound town of Scoggins to finally get to the bottom of the “Eraser Factory” mystery and the disappearances tied to the ominous Hidden People. The narrative is where Puzzle Agent 2 shines. The world is full of Twin Peaks-style weirdness, government conspiracy, and small-town paranoia — all wrapped in Graham Annable’s distinct sketchy art style.
The tone is both absurd and unsettling, shifting from dry wit to genuine tension as you uncover secrets and piece together bizarre clues. It’s a short experience (around 2–3 hours), but every scene adds to the uncanny mystery.
🧠 Puzzles & Gameplay
Gameplay revolves around solving logic puzzles — math riddles, visual pattern challenges, pathfinding, and the occasional trick question — that are integrated into the narrative through conversations and clues. Some puzzles are clever and rewarding, while others feel like filler or repeat ideas from the first game. Hints are still delivered via chewing gum (yep), and submitting correct solutions boosts your agent rank.
There’s no penalty for failure, which keeps it casual, but puzzle difficulty can vary wildly — and not always in a satisfying way.
🎨 Visuals & Presentation
The hand-drawn, rough animation style gives the game its identity — intentionally lo-fi and awkward, which enhances the weird atmosphere. Characters have odd, stilted movements, and their wide-eyed expressions sell both the comedy and creepiness.
🎧 Sound & Voice Acting
The minimalist soundtrack keeps tension simmering in the background, while voice acting (especially Nelson’s deadpan delivery) brings a lot of personality to the otherwise muted, strange setting. Dialogues are dry and often hilarious in their awkwardness.
✅ Pros
✔️ Strong continuation of a unique and weird mystery
✔️ Great voice work and tone
✔️ Memorable atmosphere and art style
✔️ Some clever puzzles that tie into the story
❌ Cons
❌ Puzzle quality is inconsistent
❌ Very short — and leaves you wanting more closure
❌ Some repetition from the first game
❌ Limited interactivity outside of puzzles
🎯 Final Verdict
Puzzle Agent 2 is a worthy sequel for fans of the original, offering more of its signature surreal charm, sketchbook visuals, and quirky humor. While it doesn’t expand much on the gameplay and ends almost as mysteriously as it begins, it’s a fun, strange ride for anyone craving a short and brainy adventure.
🕵️ 3/5 — A weird little mystery worth solving, just don’t expect all the answers.

Some puzzles are too easy while others are really hard but overall good. The story is weird, interesting but weird.
