This was a nifty way to solve puzzles. The conceit of going from room to room listening to snippets of conversation to figure out people's identities and solve cases works well for enjoyers of detective mystery games. I actually has this game recommended to me while looking for things similar to Return of the Obra Dinn and I would say it scratched a similar itch. Tragically short game, I want like 500 more hours of this style of puzzle. VAGUE SPOILERS [spoiler]The game also succeeds in an area many other games have failed at: the "twist" ending. It lays out the necessary information to let you figure out what the twist will be so it isn't a "surprise twist" and it provides increasingly more explicit "clues" so you can definitely figure it out before the "big reveal." Unheard – Voices of Crime is a brilliantly unique audio-based detective game that flips the genre on its head. Instead of finding visual clues or chasing suspects, you're listening to past conversations to uncover the truth — and it works incredibly well. You play as an investigator using an experimental audio device that lets you hear everything that happened in a room during a crime. Your job is to figure out who did it, what happened, and why, just by listening. It feels like piecing together a movie in your head — and it’s incredibly satisfying when it all clicks. The voice acting is solid, the stories are well-written, and every case keeps you guessing. It's a game that respects your intelligence and encourages real thinking — no handholding. If you're into mystery, crime, or just want something fresh and clever, Unheard is a hidden gem that deserves your attention. Rating: 9/10

I really like this game. You definitely have to use your head and think. The ending was really interesting also.

The story was interesting, even if it was a little simplistic. Nothing you wouldn't expect from a sci-fi crime thriller. As a fun, short game though I'd 100% recommend it to anyone that enjoys games like this - does enough to keep you interested without it being too convoluted.

Its interesting, the last chapter had a bit confusing wording on one of the questions (the other was obvious).

Got this on a Steam sale for a couple bucks. I enjoyed this game because I like solving puzzles. It goes quick, and sure it can be pretty easy to solve since all you have to do is listen to everyone, but it was still fun seeing the stories unfold. The ending almost threw me off. A couple changes I would suggest -- going into chapter replay, being able to skip the beginning/end scenes to quickly get into the puzzle. Also in chapter replay having the chapter end after replaying it, instead of moving onto the next puzzle.

I mean it's so cheap that I am not going to complain or refund, but I am falling asleep 10 minutes into the game. Second thought, I am refunding since I do not see myself playing this game any time in the future, this storytelling is just not for me.

Only 5 missions total (4 if you don't count the tutorial) but they were all unique and fun and didn't overstay their welcome. The free DLC (2 if you can understand Mandarin) step the difficulty up significantly in a good way.

For the price of the game, I got a lot more than I expected. This game is perfect for those who love solving mysteries. The gameplay is unique, and overall I enjoyed the stories. The only minor complaint I have is that in the last story, there's this character with DID. I could be wrong since I'm not an expert but from what I have learnt (from the one psychology class I took in college) I don't think that's how DID patients act. It did give him a unique character but that part kind of took the realism out of the game for me. I think it's my least favorite level out of the game because there are already so many games out there that are based in asylums and mental institutions that at this point they are a bit of a cliche for me. Despite the critique that I gave though, overall I still enjoyed the level, it's just not my favorite out of the 5. I will definitely be interested to check out the DLC though!

Unheard is a game that I liked a lot more than I thought I would. At it's core, the game is a detective mystery, in which you are given a room layout and a timeline, and you have to figure out who did a crime, and why. For this, you can jump to any moment in time leading up to the crime, walk into an area, and listen to the audio that has been audible in that space during that time. Slowly, you start to piece together what happened, why it happened, and who is responsible. What works great about this, is that the 5 mysteries that you have to solve are incredibly complex - every person in the scene usually has some sort agenda. People lie, betray each other, and unplanned things happen, so it takes some caution to draw conclusions. The last one even ambitiously ties all of the previous stories together in a way that actually works really well. Narratively, this game is really ambitious, and can actually pull it off. I have some smaller nitpicks about the game, namely, that it can sometimes be annoying to listen through the entire level - the last level is 15 minutes of recording and features 12 characters, which means that you probably spend over an hour just listening to all of the interactions happening in the scene. Also, listening to all of the audio already concludes 80% of the investigation. It still feels *good* to figure out all of the intrigue, but a lot of it is actually still just being told to you. But the other 20% are very cool, because the game doesn't hold your hand in drawing your own conclusions at all. Additionally, the game's questions about the case actually spoiled a plot twist in one instance, which I found a bit sad. I think this is a great game to experience narratively, but if you are looking for something where you can sink your teeth in to solve a case that is really hard to crack, this might not be the best game for you. I *really* enjoyed playing it, though. The levels all felt super unique, the game was short enough to not wear out it's mechanics, and it's just a super creative idea in general!
