This is one of my first VR experiences and all I can say so far is wow...
I fond this game so addictive and rewarding! Vs my normal games, because it had a more "real" sensation to it, I felt I gained something to a different level.
Now moving onto the game specifics.
For a first VR game it is brilliant, the artwork and textures are brilliant and so smooth. The physics of the box and arrow; even though I am no trained archer, are so accurate and fantastic with the added benefit of not taking all too long to adapt to.
I will be keeping an eye out for future games from these guys for sure!
Keep up the brilliant work and I look forward to future releases!

Straightforward wave based shooter with an Asian twist. I don't like the drop of the arrows but it does make some sense for a simple bow without a lot of pull to it (please give us a more powerful bow or weapons upgrades). Note, I have played once so far but enough to know I am keeping the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yWklmIcxSs

I was really looking forward to playing this game after reading all the positive reviews. Plus, it just looks beautiful from the store page video. And, in fact, it is a gorgeous game. The Eastern theme is well done and the gameplay is smooth. Even the UI is super well thought out.
However, the core gameplay is just dull. It's really just a beautiful-looking 180 bow & arrow wave shooter with not much variety. It also has a very noticeable arrow drop. So you probably need to spend some time in the game just to get used to that. To make things more frustrating, enemies move in a herky-jerky fashion. They move slow for a second or two, then they move rapidly in a random direction.
For whatever reason, usually it takes more than one shot to kill an enemy, especially if they are at a distance. You get several enemies on screen and you know what type of game this is. You get a checkpoint on every 5th wave. I got all the way to the 15th wave, but was unable to beat it so I got brought back down to the 10th wave on retry. You have this force push ability when enemies get too close. I only saw a few different variety of enemies. There is a boss fight at the end though.
There are graphics & sound options. I experienced zero issues. I'm not sure why this game has been in Early Access as it doesn't seem to be getting updates in any event.
Rate 4.5/10. Sale Price Rating 5.5 ($3.99 USD or lower). I just couldn't play this game longer than 30 minutes. There's just so many better bow & arrow games in VR to play. Oh well, I only lost out on $4 bucks.

With its theme derived from the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Bardo is a standout among VR archery games. While the gameplay is very straightforward, no-frills VR archery wave shooting, its setting is beautiful and very atmospheric. The Tibetan monastery is beautifully rendered, the effects are excellent, and you'll get some fast-paced exercise as you play, The game is easy to learn and can be played either standing or sitting with good results, a rare versatility in VR archery gameplay.
But for me, having been an archer in real life for more years than I'd care to admit, the best feature is the believable bow mechanics. When you're shooting, the arrows behave as you would expect them to behave if you were firing a real flat bow. You can instinct shoot as you would in real life, and if you establish an anchor point, you'll get consistent results. The bow is neither a sniper rifle, as you'll find in some VR archery titles, nor does it feel like you're firing cooked spaghetti instead of arrows, as you'll find in others. I suspect that the developers have actually used a bow in real life. They got the feel very right.
I have had no issues at all, playing with an Oculus CV1 and touch controllers. The game is very polished. The developers communicate with the community frequently.
All-in-all, if you enjoy VR archery (personally, I own just about every title available), then you definitely want to own Bardo. For bow mechanics, it may be the best title on the market. And it's just a pleasure to play and to view in VR. I highly recommend this title. And at its current, Early Access price, I'd say that it's a "must have" title for the VR archery enthusiast. You can't go wrong with this one if you're an archery lover.
