A little rough around the edges but it's got charisma and style. Maybe wish there was less repetition in some places and a better way to keep track of where you've been. Solid platforming and direction.

Very cute and a great throwback to games like Metroid. The little quality of life things that separate a professional game from a hobby game is the little quality of life touches that this one has. The different ways you can play the game, the resolutions, saving, and level design all feel like they are meant to work that way.
The level design is very clever; that every time you die you are just that much closer to the end goal because you have your newest upgrade or ability. The damage you take is not nearly punishing enough to become frustrating, giving you ample opportunities to correct yourself and take your time.
Some cons:
Enemy behavior is a bit erratic, leaving them trapped smacking into one another and blocking off sections which seems unintentional.
The sense of direction seems generally clear, but its hard to distinguish what ability helps you get to what new area. You never really get the "aha!" moment when you find a new item, because there's no way to know if it actually works in this new way or not.
Overall, obviously this was very polished and very well executed. If you're a fan of challenging platformers, this is definitely up your alley. Every little detail you come to expect from a good game is present, and I hope to see more from CoolJosh3k in the future!

A fantastic tribute to the classics, filled with as much flying bacon and evil red frogs as you can handle.

Anyone who loves challenging gameplay that must be explored to reveal elements of play and who revels in GLORIOUS 8 BIT GRAPHICS will love this wee gem of a game. It's practically free at 4.5 Aussie dollars and at that price offers excellent value for money. Replayability is excellent; as more of the game mechanics and features are revealed as attempts and time in game progresses.
After the few hours of play accumulate, the whole game experience evolves and new challenges are revealed and new features are discovered... persistence is rewarded.
But I want to stress that the flavour of the game is outright nostalgic for those of us who remember the good old days of Trash 80s and Commodore 64s. Josh has nailed the audio flavour and kinda cheesy graphics which are hallmarks of the days when games were about gameplay , not just demos for high end GPUs and no imagination in the play.
3.5/5 to start with, 4/5 after a few hours of play; and this score is bound to rise even further after beating the game. ... 5/5 for nostalgia value and value for money... tremendous room for expansion and new dungeons/monsters and challenges/features.
It's been very interesting to be involved as a playtester for this top shelf, beautiful wee game... 5/5 would recommend.
