This game really surprised me by the improvements from the first game, from graphics to gameplay and even story, everything feels more polished. I would definitely recommend it, and it seems like a fun game to play with someone since the co op is very clearly built into the game and story.

I enjoyed Cat Quest and Cat Quest II built upon all the strengths of the original and added a dog companion to further improve the gameplay.
The world is interesting, the main storyline is engaging, and all the side quests are worth pursuing,
I didn’t feel the need to explore all the caves or collect all the items, but I crossed level 100 without feeling tired of the game.
I can’t wait to try Cat Quest 3 and the new ship mechanism.

Seems like a fun game. It is extremely basic and the game definitely does not take itself seriously. Tons of cat and dog puns. Pretty much just spam the main attack button a bunch of times, collect equipment, enjoy the story and puns.

I'm pretty tired of the lazy puns. But the pleasant co-op and rewarding gear upgrade progression are undeniable. If you have a kid who wants to play games with you, this is a good fit.

This game is fine, I guess. But it stacks up poorly to the other 2 in the trilogy.
I never finished this game back when it first came out. And after playing Cat Quest 3, I realized what the problem with this game is. There's just too much to do and not in a good way. The game seriously drags with so much content and not enough complexity to the combat to keep it novel.
The first and third games are fun but don't overstay their welcome, which is part of the promise of a game like this.

A great sequel to a really good game. This game being extremely co-op friendly let me introduce a lot of friends to the game via remote play. The first game being one player and the second being two player makes me hope the third one is three player.

The sequel to Cat Quest shares many of it's characteristics, it's still a shorter isometric Action RPG with a focus on addictive questing and puns. The three largest differences from the last game are in the art, the combat, and the inclusion of a second character. The art of CQ2 is improved over it's predecessor, although the argument could be made that it's lost some of it's simple charm, I like how they handled the art direction here.
The combat has advanced significantly, although it isn't overwhelming in any way. The previous seven spells have been upped to twelve spells, the weapons have been grouped into melee and spellcasting (ranged), with different weapons in the groups having varied projectile patterns or attack speeds as well as unique stat modifiers (+10% xp, +20% roll distance, etc). You can also finally just level up the gear that you are using in shops! The improvements to the combat system have added a significant amount of depth, which is only exacerbated by the inclusion of a second character to allow the use of two builds at the same time. The second character also means the game can be played co-op, which is great if you have a young one or a friend to play alongside. I didn't though, so being freely able to switch between them was fine.
Honestly, the music was very repetitive, it's mostly the same short tracks from the last game again, although they certainly feel more grating on my ears this time. The dungeons have been massively improved, with most feeling like they're built around an idea that the developers wanted to explore as opposed to adding a dungeon just to have another one. I didn't do Mew Game this time, since it's not needed for 100% and I didn't want to play through the game 3+ more times, but the modifiers all seemed like they could make for fun challenges, and the game actually tells you when a challenge set is likely impossible, which is a nice QOL feature.
I honestly do prefer this game over the original, especially if you have a friend to play it with.
