As it stands, the game is fun.. BUT
My main problem with this game is..
The store page for this game has screenshots of player customization, different melee weapons (aside from the current one machete) with from the looks
of the screen shots also has customization on the melee weapons (the machete at this time does not).
I think its kind of B.S. to include content on the screenshots that isnt even in the game.
That aside.. I really was going to keep this just in support of the dev in hopes for more developmenton this game but..
A look at the "read more" on the early access flag and you will see
"approximately how long will this game be in early access?"
Answer: "about 12 months"
Now, I get that this guy probably has an actual job and all that but..
its 8 months past the original time frame and the stuff thats in the screenshots arent even there?
Also, if you give his youtube a look hes working on other projects.
The last mention of DD was 11 months ago.. Why are you working on other projects when the game you said would be finished 8 months ago doesnt even have content you're showing in the screenshots??
I dont have faith this game will continue to go any further BUT..
I will leave this as a thumbs up, and will gladly purchase it when the content advertised
is actually in the game.

For the first two days, I have found this game fast-Paced, fun, and challenging. I personally find its a little pricy, especially in its current form and at this early in development, but regardless, the game is a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing the developer progress in building & dressing this game up.

A smooth 3rd person (bonus! specially with thee.. added.. um, elements) arcade-ish style run and gun for an Early Access with nice gameplay and collectables.
+ Great hands on DEV - very active and hands on (this is reason #1 for me buying this game)
+ Fun, fast, and smooth action
+ Great graphical style (could be a - for some but I love it)
+ Elements of Unloved made it here (reason #2)
+ Booty Chest (not the loot chests either... you will know...)
- Some may find repetative (+ for me)
- Grinding for colors and booty chests may not be for all (+ for me)
- Early Access (meh - but I like EA if used for the right purpose, which in the case is)
If you like Running & Gunning (and dashing just added!) in a proc. gen. environment with smooth tasty fps and don't get bored of repetition and grind - this is for you. ..and it only has room to get better and grow. I will admit when I saw the price I was hesitant - BUT it's one dude (impressive) who is always hands on (instant +) who I gave $2.00 to previously (less % steam) for Unloved which I so far have 150+ hours in and still play. SO.. EZ buy - and turns out I love it.

I loved the 'unloved' game by this developer and just recently found out about dimension drifter. Even if the game is still in EA, it is very well playable. Fast paced run & gun gameplay with randomly generated levels. If you liked 'unloved' you will love this game!
This game is made by only 1 person, which is very impressive for the quality provided!
I can't wait for the final product, to see what else it will have in store.
And please consider adding a multiplayer option in the future aka unloved :)

There's nothing quite like Dimension Drifter.
It'll keep you on your toes with it's fast and frantic combat, with a large packs of mobs scattered around, and some more that spawn in all around. Careful not to let yourself get trapped in a room once you've opened a Golden Chest.
The pistol and shotgun are satisfying to fire, good visions and sound FX. I particularly like the pistol-flick to eject the mag on reload.
So far, it seems you play through self-contained mini-episodic campaigns. You keep the pick-ups, like armour, bombs, health, etc. between levels, but only levels within that episode. Starting a new episode puts you back to limited starting ammo.
Dimension Drifter has realised it's potential. Even this early in Devlopment, solid base with a fair bit to do.
I'm left hungry for more

Good lord this game is way much more fun than I ever could have imagined. I absolutely love this developers previous game (Unloved) but this one just didn't look as good judging by the gameplay and screenshots but MAN was I wrong! This game is so addictive that I'm pretty sure the 8 hours I've played so far were completely in a row with no breaks. The action is very fast paced, the shooting is in third person, there are several RPG elements in place, and it's just super fun to play. And that's what's really most important. If you like old school shooters like Doom or even the new Doom, Wolfenstein, etc. I think you will find a TON to love with this title. There is SO much replayability that I just can't stop playing it. My new addiction has a name. And it's name is Dimension Drifter.
I've started a Youtube series for tihs game if you want to see what some of the gameplay looks like. I recorded like 15 episodes or something ridiculous so this series will be slowly updated over time:

This game has the potential to be my favorite game bought this year. I love the gameplay, very fluid, natural translation of movement aiming, and shooting. I really liked the nod to UNLOVED and DOOM. It combines my three most favorite of things; guns, jiggle physics, and gore. I really enjoy the third person aspect, despite not really enjoying that viewpoint, I felt it translated solidly. I liked the RPG elements, the character design, and the level design so far, and am looking forward to seeing how this progresses through early access. The game develepors are definitely doing a whole lot of something right, keep up the amazing work.

so this is essentially just a stripped down doom clone with procedurally generated levels and a coomerbait character, you've got a pistol and a shotgun and three dashes and you go around killing reskinned pinkies, imps and pistol dudes and looting chests. you can't customise the appearance of your character, which is different from what's shown in promotional images on the steam store page, but you can slightly recolour your weapons. the weapon and player mods seem really minor and you really don't get a choice of them anyway since you only get one loot drop per level along with a reskin colour???
if you really want to play the first two levels of doom over and over again with a giant ass in your face then go ahead but i wanted to play all the levels of doom with greater weapon variety AND a giant ass in my face and in this i am disappointed

Edit edit:
it's now halfway through 2022 and this game still crashes, is incomplete, and content deficient. it's still a tech demo. It's fun, but sadly, this is just NOT a good game and despite promises to come back to it, it doesn't seem like it ever will be.
This is the last time i try to play this mess until a massive, major, update is provided.
Edit:
It has been a year and a half since release and frankly this has not gotten any major updates in the meantime. sure, a couple things here or there, but nothing to really be worth investing my time playing this.
But, i do want to mention some really awesome things the developer is doing right.
1.) the very first game that fans were so happy with and wanting balancing? He fixed a HUGE amount of things and added content... for free. essentially remastered Unloved for free. that's a huge deal in my book that a developer would do that.
2.) He is still developing a NEW GAME which is a much smaller one to fund the development of this one. It remains to be seen whether that's a wise investment or not, but i may very well do that just because I think Blue/BlueEagle productions is awesome and I really think the developer is cool.
Maybe it's just the bond of blood all 90's fps enthusiasts seem to share and my fandom in his doom mapping days, but i do wish the best for him.
But yeah, super bummed this has not been updated yet.
Old:
I cannot recommend this at this time. The game costs twice as much as its predecessor Unloved (which I LOVE having clocked over 200+ hours) and has very little content. This was released far to early to be worth $20 or even $15.
certainly a let down from unloved which had literally hundreds of customization options, lines of story content, and dozens of different rooms in different themes.
I am hopeful because originally when unloved was released it was very content deficient. it did not have trinkets (upgrades and mods and weapon starters), you had exactly three weapons counting melee and one tileset with only a handful of room types. It took awhile to get there but when it did, it really arrived.
I suspect all my reservations will be worked out in a year from now, and by then i'll change my review.
