I had this whole review thought out and rehearsed a day or two ago, but my mind's a mess and I lost it, so I'll keep this (relatively) brief. A third-person space shooter with nice graphics and pretty swell tunes, not a bad story but perhaps a little light on editing in terms of missing words, overall a decent experience although somewhat short and a bit more challenging as things move on. It's nothing ground-breaking, but it's a good way to pass some time. Controls are smooth (at least in my experience, I only used a controller) and aside from some stubborn obstacles and two escort missions the game was relatively simple and not at all a major bother to get through. In particular enemies that semi-frequently hit you with an EMP that disables automatic tracking are a serious nuisance, and in the later game there're enemies with missile launchers that can track you across the entire map even if they can't hit you, which is itself not as bad as it could be but every time a missile is tracking you--whether or not it can hit you, for instance if you're inside of something--it causes your HUD to beep an alarm at you until there's not a single missile still tracking you, which is more of a headache-inducer than a credible threat. In its favor, although there is a degree of grinding to get the good stuff, that grind is not exceptionally hard to overcome, especially thanks to the exploration maps, which allow you to gather resources that you can sell or, in certain cases, use to craft new ships. And you can feasibly get by using nothing but the starting ship and weapons if you're good enough, I'd wager (which I'm not lol), so upgrading just makes things even easier, relatively speaking. Altogether, a fairly solid game imo. Definitely recommended if you're big on space-themed shooters. (As an aside, I would totally buy the soundtrack if it were available, hint-hint-nudge-nudge)

I normally don't play these type of games but I have to admit, that once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun. Runs smoothly on my rig and looks good on my 1440p 144htz 32" 16:9 curved monitor. Worth the price, good game to blow off some Steam....no pun intended...FYI I recommend keyboard and mouse..

Subdivision Infinity is a spaceship game in the likes of Galaxy of Fire 2, which I´ve just finished and liked very much. You are a pilot, of course, and you start with a feeble ship which, of course again, you will want to upgrade and improve, buy better equipment, evolve, etc. I mentioned Galaxy of Fire 2, but Subdivision Infinity is not a sandbox game, it has a linear campaign progression. You have the option of doing "exploration", a.k.a side mission on each sector (haven´t played those yet), but overall you don´t have too much liberty to roam the galaxy freely. The combat is fast and furious, if you stop moving you are in trouble. The visuals are very good, being a newer game, the explosions e.g. are very well done. The controls are very similar to most ship sims, which is great. I can play w/ m+k and it is satisfying. Pity that the lame dialogues between you and your robot sidekick have a complete lack of chemistry. In that sense, GoF 2 was way better. I´ve tried about nine or ten games of this genre, and Subdivision Infinity made it into the final five (the others were "Galaxy of Fire 2", "Darkstar One", "The Battle of Sol" and "Disputed Space", this last one being purely arcade). So I recommend this game. Its strongest points are the frantic combat and elaborated graphics. I´m not sure about the ship improvement mechanism, tho. We´ll see. UPDATE: I´m past half the campaign and my ship is now not strong enough to keep going. So I´m resorting to Exploration missions, where you can mine asteroids for money to upgrade ship and gear (you can also look for blueprints to craft specific ship, but I´m not doing that). It´s a good way to "relax", you mine asteroids and deal with the eventual ships that appear to bug you. You can leave the Exploration mission at any moment and carry what you already got with you. It´s a fair grinding system.

I just gave a chance to this game and I'm happy I didn't skip it. I was looking for some space battles game with descent graphics, without too much deep gameplay, but with many spaceships and simple crafting system. Subdivision Infinity provided me all of this. The graphics are more than just good. Hangar has 10 spaceships and I must admit - each of them look cool! In the shop I've found variations of guns to purchase. 10/10 weapons design, by the way! And the most important part - space battle gameplay - it's not annoying, it's competitive and it has the BOSSES! Simply well made game, which I'm gonna recommend to all space battles genre players.

Not sure if they're ever going to update or patch this game. It's a lot of fun, but I really wish they'd incorporated a target lock system. No ability to lock onto a target, target nearest enemy, cycle targets, or target subsystems. This is a crucial feature which almost every space combat game has, not sure why it isn't here. Other than that, the game is a load of fun and if you like Everspace, you'll like this.

Its like a cheap version of Everspace, way evercheaper. Like this game was made during free time by same developers :) Totally unbalanced, full of bugs, its not worth 13 EUR, 5-6 eur would be tops.

There's a distinct lack of space sim/shooters a'la Wingcommander out there, so I'm not too picky. This one, however, has a few glaring design problems that brings it down from a "Meh, it's OK" to "Steer clear unless on a deep sale". Customizability of ships: At the end of the first sector, you'll be able to buy/craft ships with 2 weapon mounts instead of 1. After this point, *all* ships have two primary mounts and one secondary, the only difference as far as I could tell having slightly more shields, top speed etc. Further, there doesn't appear to be any way to decouple the weapons, so I found the only thing to do was to equip two of the same weapon. "Exploration" missions: Basically "free flight" with constantly spawning weak enemies where you're spending ½-1 hour looking for tiny crates hidden away in huge structures. You can scan for crates, but you can only get scanner charges from the crates themselves or by spending a substantial amount of credits in the shop. And finally the thing that inspired me to write this review: No mid-mission checkpoints: This isn't a problem at first, since the missions are generally short. However, in the third sector there are two missions where you spend a few minutes literally just staring at a "Scanning" bar while it fills up. In the second of those two missions there's then a decently challenging fight, where if you die - you guessed it - you get to spend another 3-4 minutes staring at a slowly growing bar.

After playing SI to the bitter end, I felt I can no longer recommend this game, such wasted potential. SI is a space combat game that is rather reminiscent of a 3rd person Wing Commander. Combat is quite good, lots of enemies, scaled properly, but the extra features felt tacked on and does not mesh well. Purely as a space combat game, SI is quite good. Pace is fast, and on easy, game is not impossible... Until the very last mission, which is when you realize that this game has NO checkpoint save system. If you die, you restart at the VERY beginning of the mission, The game does remind you before that, but if you play on easy, this is probably the ONLY time you start cursing. So you need better craft and/or weapons. Except you don't have access to those unless you play "Exploration" missions, two of those for each of the five systems. Exploration has three purposes: 1) to recover crates hidden somewhere on the map, by sending out radar beacons (cost 5000 each) so you can fly to the crate and nab its contents, 2) mine asteroids to make money and/or rare elements for crafting the ships, 3) kill a lot of enemies so you can accumulate a surplus of "gear crates" and "ship evo kits" which are also needed for weapon and ship upgrades. The crate may be in the open that you can just fly up to it. The crate may be stashed hidden from view inside a structure. The crate may be stashed in a minefield. The crate may be hidden behind a hangar door that much be unlocked with a "passcard". Or the crate could be hidden deep within tunnels of an asteroid that makes you wonder if your space shooting game morphed into Descent. Your radar beacon does give you an exact location, but you are not sure how to get there... until you get there. And when there may be MULTIPLE hangar doors opening into the interior of the asteroid, this 3D puzzle can be quite... frustrating. What's worse, these asteroids 3D scavenger hunt are in map 2 and 3, not 4 and 5. Oh, and you have to deal with enemies... who comes in INFINITE waves, in exploration maps. If you kill one wave, the next one appears. And every once in a while, a miniboss shows up. When enemy fighters and capships starts launching missiles, while you're still in the tunnels (so they can't hit you), you get constant "missile warning" that you can't turn off. And that... is VERY VERY annoying. The ship designs don't match their names. Tornado X and Tornado don't look related at all. Same with Supernova and Supernova X. Clearly, whoever named these ships got very lazy. Also, what's the point of getting ship evo kits when they are barely used? New ship only need about a dozen, and to "evolve' a ship is just to add cargo and armor, and also barely uses the stuff. At least the gear crates are used for weapon upgrades ,and that has FIVE levels so uses a lot more gear crates. Yet you end up with a large surplus of ship evo kits if you just play long enough. And the whole thing turns into a grind... Where you endure the annoyances of searching for crates, avoiding missiles and enemies, kill a wave all except one, and just avoid his shooting while still mining asteroids by circle-strafing the asteroid using the mining tool (mining laser). Until you realize you don't see any mine-able asteroids near you, so you try to do a scan all around you, 360x360, while dodging enemy fire, WHILE somehow turn the ship with your right stick WHILE holding down the A button to "mining scan" (which is on the right side too). This gets really crazy when an enemy capship shows up and starts lobbing missiles at you. And those really hurt... and in the frenzy of dodging missiles you lost track of any mine-able asteroids. The game clearly isn't quite balanced right, in both combat and economy. The combat during exploration is just TOO hectic that you're forced to exploit the pattern by "kill all except one" and economy requires too much on grinding the exploration missions. Such wasted potential.

gameplay is solid but lacks content. 2 rocket launchers. about 10 guns but there is no need to change them since they don't grow in dps. only 2 guns per ship. and ships has little to no difference. the all have the same slots (2 gun, 1 secondary(missile)). Enemy shot frequently pass through solid objects. TLDR Extremely underdevelopped

I was so excited to Play this brand new space game(i LOVE space games) but then as I took a gander at the hangar to see all the ships that would be mine in the future, I realized that it all seems so familiar. That is when I realized that this is a $15 port of a FREE mobile game that I had played about 6 months ago on my android phone. I don't think it took me more than a few hours to finish the campaign (which is like the same 4 or 5 mission types with different sky boxes for each section of the galaxy map) It was an entertaining few hours, but I cant recommend buying this game. If you really want to play it then go get it for free on your phone. I think I remember liking the controls better on the phone anyway.
