Season 6 is just a never-ending blueprint grind. And raiding supplies are so easy to stockpile, it’s like free real estate for base destruction.

Overall Impression Based on Current Information:
Last Oasis Season 6 appears to be a significant attempt by studio to revitalize the game, particularly by returning to its PvP roots and emphasizing walker-centric gameplay. The initial testing phase has generated positive buzz, with a noticeable increase in player counts, the highest in nearly three years. This suggests that the changes implemented are attracting both returning and new players.
Key Positive Aspects:
Focus on PvP and Walkers: Season 6 doubles down on player-driven conflict and the importance of walkers, which are unique to Last Oasis. Walkers are now more resilient, requiring rarer resources for complete destruction, promoting tactical gameplay.
New Content and Mechanics: The introduction of canyon map tiles, "quality tiles" with richer rewards and harder enemies, and ancient city tiles with relics to find adds variety and new objectives.
Proxy Walkers: These introduce dynamic territorial politics and strategic depth, encouraging clan competition for valuable resources.
Anti-Personnel Turrets: These help balance walker combat, especially for newer players.
Crafting and Resource Rebalancing: Crafting recipes and costs have been rebalanced with a tiered system. New resources like Brine in Volcanyons and changes to resource drops in various locations aim to improve the economy and resource acquisition.
Bug Fixes and Optimizations: Ongoing patches address bugs, improve performance, and implement player feedback, indicating active development and attention to player experience.
Community Engagement: The developers actively communicate through Steam blogs, providing recaps of testing phases and outlining changes based on player feedback.
Potential Concerns and Areas for Improvement:
Early Access Nature: Despite being in its sixth season, Last Oasis is still in early access, which inherently means potential for bugs, instability, and further significant changes.
Past Issues: The game has a history of fluctuating player counts and mixed reviews, with some players citing issues like a toxic community or design changes they disliked in previous seasons. It remains to be seen if Season 6 has fully addressed these long-standing concerns.
Xbox Patch Delays: Xbox players have experienced delays in receiving patches due to certification processes, potentially creating an uneven experience across platforms.
Balancing and Iteration: As the season is still in testing, ongoing balancing of new features and mechanics will be crucial for long-term success. The developers have committed to shorter seasons for more rapid iteration, which could lead to a less polished experience between updates.
Overall Potential:
Season 6 shows promising signs of a positive shift for Last Oasis. The return to PvP focus, coupled with new content, mechanics, and active development, has seemingly reignited player interest. If Donkey Crew continues to address feedback, optimize performance, and refine the new systems, Season 6 could be a significant step towards realizing the game's potential.
Should you play Last Oasis Season 6?
Based on the current trajectory, if you enjoy open-world survival games with a focus on unique vehicles (walkers), PvP combat, and dynamic territorial control, Season 6 might be worth checking out, especially if you've been hesitant in the past. The increased player base suggests a more active and engaging environment. However, be mindful of its early access status and the potential for ongoing changes and issues.

The only thing winning fights in this game is numbers. Made all these amazing and beautiful walkers just for the entire PvP to be "Ram this guy get him stuck and charge at him spamming LMB".

If you're not a fan of the game's default setup, you have the freedom to mod it, host your own servers, or join community-run ones tailored to different playstyles. Plus, Linux users can now enjoy the game too—it runs just as well, if not better, than on Windows.

It is with a heavy heart I leave this review.
I love this game, played since S1. However, the new devs have swung hard to appease a very small sect of griefers. As such, the game is no longer playable for solos or small groups like myself.
Unless you are coming into this game with a group of 20+ people willing to play nearly everyday, this game is not for you.
With a heavy sigh, I sign off for the last time in Last Oasis. I wish this game the best, but it is just not made for players like me I guess.

Last Oasis is a unique survival MMO that captured my attention for over 1,300 hours with its nomadic, walker-based gameplay and intense PvP battles. The game had a promising start, blending resource management, clan warfare, and strategic movement in a constantly shifting world. However, poor developer decisions, lack of content updates, and dwindling player numbers led to its downfall, leaving it in a state many consider "dead."
Now, with new developers at the helm, there is hope that Last Oasis can rise again. If the right changes are made—improving balance, fixing long-standing bugs, and bringing back the player base—this game could reclaim its former glory. The core mechanics are still solid, and the potential for greatness remains.
If you're a returning player or someone curious about unique survival MMOs, keep an eye on the updates. With enough community support and developer commitment, Last Oasis might just make a comeback.

I'm posting this under the steam discussions thread "Things I hope they change". Maybe we can get some some feedback so the devs can save this game:
This game was in a better state at launch than 5 years later. Upgrading your ship should only require resources, like at launch. Players don't want to be stuck at Lvl 1 upgrades for the better start of the game looking for dinghy and stilleto schematics, only to lose there ships by pirates and raiders.
The quality system in this game was better at launch as well, it was rewarding and people spent weeks and months grinding out the best quality ships and crafting stations. Quality farming needs to go back to the beginning.
Griefing needs to be addressed. Players in small/mid-size groups need protection against larger clans and that looks like it is being worked on by the devs at least.
The game needs to be forgiving when it comes to losing a primary crafting ship. I have nearly 2000 hours in this game and I saw countless groups/clans leave and never return once they lost a primary crafting ship. I understand it's pvp, I love to pirate as well, but there needs to be some kind of insurance. Whether it's one per person or one per clan, we need a system that lets you resurrect a ship will all it's crafting stations intact and repairable. I understand this may seem like a stretch or maybe someone has a different system in mind but this game went months with sub 100 players and we have a chance to bring back and retain players and that should be the focus.
Lastly we need to get new people into this game and there are zero resources outside of the cradle that help new players understand crafting and schematics. An UPDATED wiki or a series of YT videos would be great. Also since this game is almost entirely dependent on clans, we really need a way to send clan applications in game.
Last oasis came out in March 2020, it lost players due to mega-clans, griefing and bugs, but the foundation of the game was better at launch than it has been in years, and the devs need to consider why so many people loved this game and why so many people stopped playing.

Last Oasis is such a cool concept, I love the walker designs and the elements of desert survival. I was a huge fan of ARK: Scorched Earth and this sort of had the same feel.
To cut to the chase, the game is nearly impossible to play on an official server, it’s almost like official ARK Survival. That being said, playing on a non dedicated server or community server, really lets the game shine. The design elements are amazing, walker designs are very cool, directional combat is very fun after learning it, grappling around, lots more make the game a truly fun experience if you take the massive PvP on official servers and the serious grind out of the picture.
I’ve played the game since season one on Xbox and played up until the start of season five, that truly killed the game. Season 6, even though it’s in testing is very promising to me. As a returning player, I’m finding the game almost as a fresh start and it feels fun again. I still avoid the official server(s) but playing on slightly boosted servers gives the game a huge sense of hope for me. I’ve loved this game since its concepts and really want it to thrive. If the developers stay on the track they are going and can bring in new players and bring back old players, the game will be 10/10 as it was for me in its early days til season 5.
Overall, the game is great if you avoid official servers and play on PvE servers with PvP tiles for those of you who want the game for PvP. Let them smooth season 6 further and the game will be great again.

If you aren't playing in a group of 3 or more players, don't bother playing. The game is ruled by zergs that delight in ruining your day. The ping and stuttering on most servers makes pvp and gameplay terrible. The grappling hooks and walkers are so cool but are ruined by people.
