Very poorly executed game. The story makes no sense at all.

I was really excited for this one and it started out pretty good but the ending was so quick and didn't make a whole lot of sense honestly. Felt very thrown together which is unfortunate because the TTH is such an amazing story.
Most underwhelming one by far.

A particularly lazy Hidden Object game. It took me only 3 hours to complete - and that's including the bonus chapter! For comparison, other titles in the "Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe" I played took me at least 4,5 hours to beat.
The plot starts fairly well with a ritualistic murder of a young woman, but the game fails to capitalize on it in interesting way. You're stuck with analyzing crime scenes and bodies, which amounts to "select this tool and click here a couple of times". To make matters worse, it's never explained why the bad guy committed the murder in the first place, let alone why it had appearance of a ritual. And we don't actually confront the killer - someone else takes him out in a nonsensical ending!
Other things the game offers are very basic and uncommon hidden object screenes, and stock puzzles.
If you're thinking about buying this one, check some other titles in the series. This one isn't worth it.

Couldn't even get more then 20 min. into the game. The sound issues are terrible and unbearable. Sound effects, music, and speach all sound like they are coming from a record skipping. Exiting out and restarting does nothing, and the issue gets worse the longer you are in the game. Please fix this issue. I have played many other games in the Poe collection, and this is the only one I have had a issue with.

Plot - 4/10 (The ending ???):
The game's plot takes players on a twisted journey inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's classic tale, "The Tell-Tale Heart," which initially had me engrossed with its dark and mysterious atmosphere. The voice acting and visual design are commendable, but unfortunately, the ending left me with more questions than answers, and the narrative felt somewhat unresolved.

I've played other Dark Tales games in the past and decided to pick up the bundle for them on Steam. Played this one first since it was one of my favorite Edgar Allen Poe stories.
Honestly? It felt like the ending was abruptly cut off. Some of the game play was very fun, but the ending just left me and my brother disappointed. There was no actual conclusion. It feels like a huge chunk of the game is missing, which really saddens me. Like I have said, I use to play these games a lot as a kid and honestly was disappointed with this one. The only reason I will be revisiting it is to get the rest of the cards, and then never touch it again.

This series seems to follow the plots of Edgar Allen Poe’s stories. Of course, with you and a Detective involved. This one, you are tasked with hunting a murderer, who may only be getting started. And his first kill did not lack for theatrics...
HO scenes are fun, minigames challenging, and the plot engaging. Recommend in the bundle, just for ease of purchase.

Definitely a "sale" purchase with low expectations.
This is a very short point & click story with some hidden object finding in it. I was disappointed after having had such fun with the 2nd & 3rd in the Sable Maze series. The story is poorly written and disjointed, and definitely not for someone who is an Edgar Allen Poe fan. I'm confused how anyone would even get the story from playing this game.
Despite the game's introductory warning, this game is "low" on the scale of scary. There is suggestion of violence, and a few attempts at a jump scare.
Some positives for this version
-You can replay the game under the same name save
-Custom game difficulty option
-You can replay the puzzles/HOG in the extra menu
-Map indicates when an area is completed
Some cons for this version
-The strategy guide is only accessible through the "more info" section of the main menu. It's not easily accessible as in the Sable Maze series
-no easy link to the bonus content - i exited the game to play it later and when I came back, I can't find anywhere to get back to it
-if you advance the story, there is no way to go back to a previous area
-a lot of "matching" to progress
I did not experience any technical issues or bugs with the game.

This is a very good series, but this particular game is not very good. At least they tried to be original (unlike many of the Artifax Mundi games). It was a good attempt at being original. However, the main game was too short and ended too abruptly. I don't even understand what happened at the end. Some of the mechanics in the main game were really confusing. I didn't care for the mini-games.
If you get it cheap (maybe 4.99 US or less), then it would be worth it, I think.
