I don't get how they managed to make a simple reskin of an existing locomotive completely broken (as in literally unplayable, the consist prevents the game from loading), but they managed to do it. At least I now have the assets to apply the reskin to the existing U34 I have, and maybe that'll work, but at that point, why bother?

sigh idek what to say with this one yall already know the problems behind this one and all i ask for is that they fix them if they gave this project to someone who actually cared about how it looked and how it worked I think it would have a much higher reputation and probably would be used more anyways steam or DTM please FIX THISSSSS

Nope. I bought it on sale and still can't say it was worth it. Why? Because, the original model is so notorious for causing Out of Memory errors that it's nearly impossible to even attempt to play! From what I HAVE managed to glean, though: The texturing looks fresh out of 2008, the sounds are"meh" at best, and you're getting only one singular skin. Something that COULD have been included in the 20 friggin dollar original pack that is already content-less. This is little more than a money grab for a reskin one would normally see on Railworks America, it's just not worth it.

It took 2 years for this to be released, and that 2 years was absolutely not worth waiting at all. For this product to have been released in the state it did, is pathetic, and it really shows how little DTM actually cares for the products he creates. Negative - Quick Drive consists don't load, at all. This is something that someone would notice immediately upon testing the product. Negative - the repaints are essentially a copy paste of the original NJT U34CH, including the same bad horn with popping audio, the same buggy headlights, the same bad physics, the same modeling errors. Only difference is the textures. Nothing was improved, when it very easily could have been... and yes, the Comet Is still crash in consists that aren't solely made of Comet Is/U34CHs. New horn audio is also present in the files, but not used at all. Positive (barely) - the repaints look nice. Kind of. Save your money, and spend it on a nice bagel, or coffee, or something that isn't this. You deserve better than to support this developer's practices. Shame on you, DTM.

TLDR; Not worth it unless you know how (or are willing) to mod your game (mod link at the end of the review). Introduction/general information: Real quick, I’m going to say that this review (mostly) can be applied to both the EL version and the original NJT version; they’re identical except for the paint. [EL-specific points will be put in brackets like this] Model and textures: 2/5 [Grade D] The usual DTM modeling/texture job; the locomotive and car models are nice, but all the hatches and non-cab doors, and rivets on the locomotive are painted on (the grilles on the locomotive seem to actually be modeled for the most part, which is a slight improvement). Not much else to it. The colors seem alright, but the cab textures on both the locomotive and cab car leave some to be desired. [The EL reskin seems to lack any branding, unfortunately.] I’m going to give it a 2 out of 5. Functions and features: 2/5 [Grade D] The standard DTM “extra” features; opening doors and windows in the locomotive. Surprisingly, the locomotive includes a dummy HEP function, where the engine will rev up and lock at 960 rpm (though it would have been nicer if the lights in the cars responded to whether the HEP was on or not, like in the Class 68). The cab car features a folding conductor’s seat (no animation though, it just snaps to either folded or unfolded). 2 out of 5 here as well. Sounds: 3/5 [Grade C] Engine sounds are the same as the sounds from DTM’s NS Dash-7 locomotives, which honestly aren’t all that bad. The horn isn’t great, but it also isn’t terrible. It sounds decent enough, but it has a pretty noticeable loop. The locomotive actually features traction motor growling sounds, which is a nice feature. The bell, surprisingly enough, is actually pretty good. It has separate external and internal sounds and has a pretty great sound to it overall; not the same bell that DTM loves to use on practically everything he makes. The cab car horn sounds alright (it actually has separate internal and external sounds), seems to lacks a noticeable loop (though there is a little bit of one in there, if you blow it for long enough), but the transition to the end sounds a little bit weird. The bell is exactly the same as the one on the locomotive. I’m giving the sounds a rating of 3 out of 5. Physics/performance: 3/5 [Grade C] The physics are alright; it doesn’t seem to want to leap right out of the gate when you apply power, unlike most TS locomotives. The brakes are pretty finicky though, it’s almost impossible to select the “hold” setting; the handle flies right past it (the “initial reduction” setting seems to work as a decent work-around, though). The cab lights seem to knock about 20 FPS off when they’re on, and the headlights, maybe about 5. Other than that, it runs pretty smooth on my machine. I’m rating this category a 3 out of 5. Versatility: 1/5 [Grade F] Versatility is pretty limited; about the only place you can use this is on the Morristown Line, or possibly the NJCL. [The EL version even more so; they seem to have only run on EL routes IRL, with the Morristown Line being the only one of those in-game so far, outside of the Steam Workshop.] Probably a 1 out of 5 on versatility. Extra credit and nitpicks: The only extra credit this deserves is just from being a unique piece of railroading history. +1 extra credit. [The EL version gets no extra credit, since it’s just a reskin. Additionally, the quick-drive scenarios are broken; the game will throw you back to the main menu if you try driving one. That definitely seems like something that should have been caught before release. -1 point for that glaring error.] Closing remarks and final grade: Final grade is 12/25 [Grade C] for the NJT version, and 11/25 [Grade C] for the EL reskin. If you’re interested in unique pieces or railroad history or are just a big fan of east-coast commuting, I’d highly recommend waiting for a major sale (over 50% discount) before buying the NJT version. If you have no interest in modding, then the EL reskin just isn’t worth your money (even if it’s only 5 dollars). If you just absolutely, positively can’t live without this, and you already have the NJT version, then I would highly recommend downloading this mod (https://utscreations.weebly.com/store/p48/U34CH_Sound_Revamp.html). (IMPORTANT: This mod WILL NOT effect the original NJT U34CH, just the EL reskin.) While it won’t fix everything wrong with the reskin, it certainly makes it a much more enjoyable experience.

The product wasn't tested before it was released! If it had been tested properly, then the loading problem would have been discovered! Also, without the licensing being worked on, the models still look incomplete! That being said, these will defiantly work well on the Bergen Line route (Hands down the best route in all of Train Simulator Classic)!

https://youtu.be/MRacK7JN6_c ============= My friend Minerman146 had this thing custom built effectively (aside the model), and DTM effectively crapped on it and basically re-released the NJT variant with a new lick of paint. I want to recommend this bc of my buddy, but i cant. What was released on Steam here is NOT what should have been released. Technically it says on the tin what it is "livery pack".... but it was actually supposed to be so much more than that. Please see the video as its too much to type Cesar, DTM - please correct this egregious thing... Please...
