The game seems interesting but the localization has several issues: - the font is not good! There's a guide to change it, but you need to mess with your windows registry which I don't recommend because you can seriously damage your win setup if you don't do it in the correct way. I've used it on linux (with my steam deck) but still the font is not good; - the fullscreen windowed mode is horrible because of the aspect ratio; - Translation is not good but tolerable, I think what really hurts here are more the other aspects...

One of my favorite Fortissimo series. The story is quite exciting to follow, especially when it was released in its era. And all the Heroines are quite famous tho. It's quite fun to rewatch this masterpiece.

A soul crushing result of a company who doesn't care about the Fortissimo series buying it up only to release a Google Translate version of the game...actually, Google Translate isn't right. This was made by a Chinese company, which means they don't have Google Translate. They have another service. After purchasing this game over a year ago and seeing the atrocity that was the translation, I emailed SakuraGames saying I would fix the translation without the need for compensation. To my surprise, someone actually responded to me. They said they'd be happy to have help and that the translation produced (in English) is actually incomplete. They used their translation bot and their proof reader (a Vietnamese guy with English as a second language, and wasn't proficient enough) had only finished around 1/3 of the translation before submitting it. Afterwards, they said it they wouldn't be right NOT to compensate me and unofficially "hired" me to fix the English TL. I had no contract (a bit foolish on my end) but regardless, I figured I'd give it a shot. After around 3 months I got decently far in the translation process, fixing poor English grammar, spelling mistakes, and giving proper names to characters and titles (ex. "Roger Fire" is Rogue Flame). I contacted SakuraGames asking about how much the pay would be for all of the work and whether it was a flat price, per word, or per hour worked. I received no response. I tried again and again to get in contact but to no avail. After seeing they likely didn't care anymore and had moved on to buy up more VNs to shit up their translations. I hope the Fortissimo series can receive a more proper translation or some form of proper Western representation of a game I've been a fan of since 2012. To remedy this situation, I'm posting the translation I was given for others to see, and pick up to finish. Maybe someone with more free time on their hands than myself can make a mod or "restoration" of the translation like other VNs in the past. But, that unfortunately can't be me as much as I'd like to. https://www.mediafire.com/file/benok2938e8kgki/FA_EN_JP.xlsx/file

Two regional versions both of which have cut off entirelly original language in favor of mediocre translation. Also text and menu buttons fonts are shitty.

The games are made in Japan, but they don't have Japanese version.. what the f**k.... Incidentally, I think the publisher SakuraGame which is on Steam must be localized in China.

I have read that this game only have 1/3 of it translated, turn out it's true. I played about 15 minutes, and even for a non-english speaker like me, i can still find its flaws and some messy sentences, but it definitely better than their usual machine-translated, and of course readable. And then i skipped all the way for about 25 min, now this is where the nightmare begins. The translation is sometimes understandable, but there's so many sentences that doesn't make any sense, and who called a shocking, scared young girl a "dumb maiden" especially in a modern fantasy world, their translation quality went back all the way to the rock bottom. Also, all the info pictures about the characters is not translated and the OP suffers the same fate, you will never know who are the people that make this game, who are the voice actors, since it's all written in japanese

Update: Just noticed the price of the game increased significantly. The original price I paid for this game was $2.29 CAD on Steam. It is currently priced at $11.49 CAD. I do not know if any issues I noted below were fixed. Buyer beware. Original review: I played for about 15~ minutes. -There was no Steam overlay -On the menu the English text would become Chinese text when hovering over the option -The English translation looked very rough ("Roger fire", anyone?). Its been over a month since the game released. One patch has been released. No news of another patch on the forums since late August. From this information, and after noting the above points: To me, Fortissimo doesn't look like it was ready for release in English. Now, I have heard the Chinese translation is fine/good, but writing as someone who only knows English fluently: I would prefer to be given the text to fully understand what is going on in a story. The meaning of words changes if the translation isn't done well. The way you perceive a moment in a story changes if the words don't reflect the moment. Simply put: A bad translation ruins the immersion of reading. So, how about the English in this game? In English the text is readable, but not good. I could give this a pass and would probably wait longer before writing a review like this if there was more communication and effort to try and fix the translation problems (ie more news postings, more patches for English text issues, a roadmap, pinned messages on the forum, etc), but without that and it being out for over a month, the game looks kind of dead in support. There isn't anything recent that says work is being done on the English translation to make it better. I still bought the game after checking some reviews and the forums. I gave a benefit of a doubt since I couldn't find any recent concrete information on there not being improvements or there being improvements to the game. The price of this game is also very cheap too, so I'm mostly indifferent on the fact that I bought it for $2. It is a 'You get what you pay for'-sort of deal, but for that reason alone I am writing a review. In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this game if you are only fluent in English.

Why you shouldn't buy this. 1. Badly translated game. For example, it's Rogue/Roge not Roger, and then I find lots of incoherent sentences, and so on. 2. Un-translated Extra page. Like, even fan translation of FSN has done a better job than you for this kind of thing. 3. Un-translated some of setting menu. 4. You can't change windowed and fullscreen mode. 5. Title menu's font changed into Simplified Chinese when hovered over. Is this a joke? 6. There's already a random youtuber who does a better translation than an effin' company. Why don't you guys just copy paste his work if your result is worse than him? 7. Lacryma is being scammed, stop giving Sakuragames more money. I BEG YOU.

As usual of anything SakuraGame publishes, this localization uses a machine translation. But this time it's not for a nukige barely anyone cares about. It's La'cryma first english localization, and something with an actual plot possibly worth investing. SG destroyed it and there's no option to play in japanese, even though the store page shows screenshots with japanese text. It's a shame that La'cryma got scammed, i hope they find a better publisher for their second english localization. Only get fort if you can read chinese, because that one might be alright.
