Shortly: the best fighter in Kuban. However, try biying it on a sale, the full price is a bit too much.

The 109 G6 is a fast plane that packs a heavy punch.
+The plane is easy to fly. Its fast but it doesn't turn that well but you don't really need to. Get some good hits and the enemy will fall out of the sky.
+Great, powerful guns. If you can get hits on something you'll definitely cause a lot of damage.
+Nice skins even a few non-German skins which is always fun to see.
Good plane.

Great 109, first one to have the 13mm guns in place of the old MG17s. It has some cool options and presents a logical stepping stone from the G-4 to the later models. If you like 109s then you ought to get this one to expand your collection as it is well worth it.

It's a 109 and therefore an exceptional aircraft, BUT(!)...
it is by far the worst variant of all 109's you can use! Even all its predecessors (short the old E-variant maybe) are faster, more nimble and just plainly better in every way. And I am talking about a lot of variants here way back to the F-Series. Also all its successors with the MW50-systems are faster again.
If a F-4 or even G-2 for example flys like a diving Penguin in the ocean, the G-6 flys like a walruss going for a walk on a beach. The 13 mm guns and 30 mm cannon are not worth it. It just feels like flying a piano with an engine.
Buy it only if you want a weird kind of hard mode.

Don't buy it. Just don't. Don't make my mistake
To be honest, I bought it 'cause it looks epic and has the mk108 and mg's with 13mm rounds. I was sure that this aircraft is just a regular bf109 BUT it isn't.
This aircraft is ABSOLUTELY awful.
Every single possible opponent can overtake it. Every single possible opponent can outturn it. Every single possible opponent can outclimb it.
The engine... ah, yes, the eNgIne. It will overcook in 2-3 minutes straight. You won't be able to leave the battle, if something goes wrong.
This aircraft always put you in such disadvantages, that you never win. If you ever flew g4 - stay with it. Don't change it to g6. It's much havier and slower than g4.
Even if you mind buying it on the discounts - DON'T. It's just a waste of money.

For the potential Gustav buyer, you get the g6 just for the 2 x 13mm and for the 30mm cannon which pack a serious punch, but the g6 is just a g4 with the armament upgrades (the upgrades lowers quite a bit the performance). I like the g6, i think is a very good aircraft and it's worth it!

Absolutely beastly plane. When I first saw it as a collector aircraft I thought "why would I want to spend money for yet another 109 variant when the game has so many?" While the 109 is IL-2's most extensively modelled aircraft, the G-6 is something special. Most obviously, the firepower is... quite immense. With the optional 30mm cannon, a short squeeze of the trigger is enough to obliterate a fighter or cripple tougher targets. You've also got a beastly engine and a pretty forgiving flight model. As much as the 109 is a "boom and zoom" fighter, more focused on dives and climbs than turn fighting, I've found it astonishingly responsive and maneuverable in turn fights.

The 109 G-6 is in my opinion one of the best Aircraft in this game that you can fly. For starters the duel 9mm machine guns that you get on previous models of the 109 are replaced with 13mm heavy machine guns and it also gets the option to mount a 30mm cannon instead of the usual 20mm. Personally I run with the 20mm for its higher shell velocity and higher ammunition capacity.
Alike with other 109's this thing is an energy dogfighter, not a turn and burn kind of aircraft. Its very respectable climb rate and fast speed allow for you to engage the enemy on your terms. As always the best situation for this aircraft is being above your opponent, diving on them and maintaining your energy advantage. Do not under any circumstances try to turn fight, the 109 looses a lot of energy in the turn and a 109 with little energy is a dead 109.
This aircraft is certainly not for beginners, she has a nasty stall characteristic when pulling to hard in a turn. A new pilot unaware of energy dogfighting fundamentals will struggle in this aircraft. This 109 alike with its fellow 109's is very hard to handle on the ground, the narrow landing gear and the powerful engine means that on the ground attempting to taxi will often result in a spin-out if not caught quickly enough. During take off the plane tends to veer off to the side because of the engine and needs to be caught before tuning into a flat spin. Landing the plane is also difficult, 109's are very sluggish at slower speeds add to this the fact that the landing gear are exceptionally narrow putting this bird back on the ground isn't an easy feat.
Final thoughts: I like this aircraft, the speed and climb characteristics are amazing, the fire power is substantial and in experienced hands this is a killing machine. However, this isn't the easiest plane to master for a beginner and on the ground she can give even the most experienced pilots a hard time. It's extremely common to spin out on the taxiway and not uncommon to spin-out on landing or crash on takeoff because of this. She is worth the money in my opinion but just know what you're paying for.

A short and sweet review for potential buyers of the G6.
Is it worth $20? The short answer is, no. Buy this on sale around April or December for 40-50% off. This is definitely a $10 buy at best. Sometimes the website or steam will have other sale periods.
How does it compare to the G4 that came with Kuban? About the same, this is basically a G4 with the option to add the Mk 108 30mm cannon. Really that is the only selling feature that sets it apart from the rest of the Kuban 109 planes.
Should you buy it? If you want a 30mm 109 in more early mission types or want to support the devs then yes. Otherwise a G4 will do everything the G6 will do.
I bought this for $10 on sale from the spring sale of April 2019.
