One of the recent updates had totally borked the game. It loads up, apparantly, pick starting conditions, click 'okay' after loading when choosing the leader and just haaaaaaaaaaaang.
I enjoyed it for years, but when they removed the launcher the borked something up seriously and it is now completley unplayable :(
I don't enjoy the 'new style' of Civ games with the sprawling cities, so that's not even an option.

Excellent game....Very suitable for lower PC configuration and those who wants to try Civilization at a lower cost.

I have been playing Civ 5 on and off since 2012 so I definitely enjoy it. I think it has the right amount of complexity. It is complex enough to be interesting, but simple enough to learn all the systems. After I had been playing for a while, it started to feel more like an abstract strategy game, rather than a history/diplomacy roleplay, but it's still fun. My biggest complaint is that the enemy AI is pretty dumb. Raising the difficulty basically just lets the AI cheat more, rather than playing better. Still a fun game though.

Downvoted for visibility - apparently they turned this game into spyware+. The game itself is fun, but I can't support this, and I was excited to redownload and give it a better go now that I played some other similar games.
Quoted from the terms of service:
"If you do not want your information shared in this manner, then you should not use the Software"
As far as "this manner" read up on google/reddit/terms of service yourself, I'm no expert.

Publisher added a new predatory TOS to all of their games and it will scan your entire computer including billing info. This shouldnt even be legal. It also bans mods in singleplayer as a cherry on top. Please dont support Take-Two

Best Civilization game since Civ 2 & 4, just the perfect middle ground, before the team left Sid Meier's "home made rules for Civilization" and threw what he learned out the window.
Civ 5 is the perfect ground, fun in depth, complex without the mid game death clicking Civ 6 is stuck with.

Take-Two and 2K games have updated all their games Terms of Service, turning this game as well as all of their other games into literal spyware.

- I spent 80h in game and I'm clueless about how I am governing.
- I can't have seggs in the game.
- You befriend someone to get stabbed in the back 20 turns later.
10/10 Exactly like real life.

Simply the best game on Earth. I never tire of playing this masterpiece. The DLC makes a huge difference and so I highly recommend it, particularly during a sale. I personally believe it to be far better than Civ 6 (which was developed to work on consoles, not that I'm knocking Civ 6, but I find this one superior), it has more character, the other AI civs have more personality, and this is larger and has more unit capacity. Highly recommend it.

I played the initial Civilization when it first came out during the middle of my working career. It was the first game I ever pulled an all-nighter on and went into work the next day without sleep. Now my kids gifted me this version, and I am enjoying it every bit as much, and have spent a couple hundred hours playing already. It has advanced in so many good ways (like the sound, and the graphics of the terrain, buildings, military elements, battles, and more), and can be a good reason to postpone chores in retirement!
