Enemies and the game's overall mechanics are very linear. Controlling the character can sometimes be a clusterfuck with upgrades being almost pointless, and regularly develops fatal DirectX errors, regardless if you're on DX12 or DX11. Although the whole theme is "Hell", it seems more like it's just grotesque just for the sake of being grotesque, and not because of "hell" or "unholy" elements. - You get tired of fart, poop and gore jokes real quick when that's 90% of the game. The game isn't inherently bad, but does suffer critical bugs that the developers seem to have just up and ignored, and the actual fundamentals of a collect-a-thon platformer are missing. You play an RPG for 20,000 collectables, not this. It's a game you'd pick up on Steam Summer Sale, not as an outright.

It's exactly what it looks like. Hell Pie is a 3D Platformer that attempts to capture the same tone and comedic style as Conker's Bad Fur Day while doing none of that and instead overdosing on grossout and vulgarities. I have only played 2 levels of this game. The Whale level and the Fascist Turd level in the demo, and I think it's safe to say that it is not going to get any better than this. I feel like I'm playing through an episode of a hybrid series of Mr. Pickles and Ren and Stimpy. I can appreciate the artistry in the ingredient images, the music's pretty nice, and the game DOES definitely have interesting movement mechanics. But there's just too much pointless gross in here for me to want to continue. If you like emptying the contents of your stomach and staring a copious amounts of bare @ss, Hell Pie is for you. I really don't know why 3 years ago me thought this was a good idea. ... I think I need to take a shower.

This game reminds me of Conker's Bad Fur Day. Although that game does not take place in hell, it is certainly similar to the grotesque and vulgar humor present in the game. There is even an unlockable "squirrel" outfit that resembles Conker. Boy do I miss the old Rareware. Nostalgia aside, Hell Pie is a must play.

Awesome hub worlds, great character design, level designs, and movement mechanics that make traversing all the worlds and levels a blast. I was expecting the game to be edgy for the sake of being edgy, but I’ve been having a great time so far, and the game has made me chuckle a few times
