It's only worth it if you're ready to drop all stakes, everything that was built up, is gone. At least physically, there are references to the main games, but it treats itself like extra did.
If you want full enjoyment, you have to be in the right mindset, don't forget what brought you here. Otherwise you'll drift apart from Alternative. It's a sequel, but it's not Takeru's sequel.
