That Which Binds Us Reviews

All she wanted was to get a bail bond for her troublesome boyfriend. That's when she met Idris, a very special kind of bondsman. With a flick of a knife, he asked Evalise one confusing question- what if we could make him forget you?

I absolutely adore this game! The story is so beautifully romantic and well written, I couldn't pull myself away from it until I've finished a full route. (Seriously, don't leave the stove on while you play!) Although the story has elements of magic, it is very much a slice of life with a sense of maturity that I don't find in most other otome games. The events in the game are often mundane, with the characters having very relatable conversations about daily life. It makes the story feel very relatable! 8.5/10 - Highly recommended

A cute romance VN with just the right amounts of plot, mystery, and magic. There's a lot of content to go through with it, even just with the normal playthrough and NG+, so it's worth its price. The art style is nice to look at and the music, although limited to just a few tracks, sets the mood perfectly no matter the scene. 7.5/10, Definitely recommended.

That Which Binds Us has a beautiful story, very romantic and sweet. The only problem I had with the game is that I think the art looked a bit weird (especially some of the characters' faces) However, I do not regret buying it and I think more people should give it a chance.

Honestly, the worst game I have ever paid money for. The protagonist is, incredibly, bland and unlikable. The conversation is wanting. I purchased for unique art style, hoping that the content would also be unique and engaging. It was not. I was intrigued by the possibility of magicking someone to forget you, but in playing this game, it just could not hold my attention. If I am going to continue playing, I need someone in the game to be likable, or at least evil enough for me to love to hate them. This had nothing. It had a guy who could, somehow, cut you and make people forget you, and a girl who was really $hitty at making decisions, and had no filter when it came to asking stupid (personal) questions. This game was recommended to me on the basis of my loving Our Life. If you loved Our Life, do NOT buy this game. It will bore you to no end. Seriously, I hated this game soooooo much, I think this is probably the only review that I have ever left,,,that I can recall.

Honestly, I didn't like the game when I first tried it. I thought it was... Alright... Nothing too... Great? Then I went back to it later, after all the life events and found out that it wasn't that bad. Maybe it's because I've read worse or maybe something DID change... But I had taken an interest in this game. I didn't really feel attached to the characters... It was the plot itself. I was curious to see the "mystery" of it. After reading the kinetic part, I did like the twist... It was surprising... It was surprising because I thought everyone was going to die in the first playthrough lol. Also, I may have forgotten a certain character was in the story... *-* It wasn't that dramatic... At all. So then the novel is no longer kinetic and goes to "what if" scenario... That's it. That's all you get. Do you expect me to read and tell you every single detail? If so, alright! But it might take a few nights...

A magical knife can erase people's memories of someone as long as the wielder has a strain of hair to cut ... and another's flesh to cut, willingly or not. Praises • Interesting premise. • A few of the CGs are nice. • First playthrough is standalone, which is certainly unique in VNs. The second playthrough and onward is completely different than the first. • Comes with a walkthrough, labeled as “manual” under “additional content.” • Five different endings. • Encourages people be honest and communicate with their partner(s). Complaints • Protagonist isn’t very likable. She can be annoying, like complaining about working all the time when she could just ignore her phone when her boss calls for her to come in on her day off. Like, just don’t answer …? • Mediocre writing. Often boring in between events. • Not a fan of the art style, overall. • Another story full of white people. No racial/ethnic diversity whatsoever. • Not very romantic despite it being about a guy trying to salvage his relationship with a woman
who doesn’t remember him
. It was okay. It was interesting enough to keep reading. If the premise intrigues you, get it on sale or something, but if you’re looking for romantic feelings, try elsewhere.

In all honesty, this is one of those times again where I wished there was a neutral button for some games. Because I don't know. This game has its good points but alas also things that fell flat. Basically we start with Evalise, who goes to a bail bond to bail out her useless, deadbeat boyfriend and meets up with a guy who reveals he can erase the memories of the person of your choice with his magic knife. Now it has a rather interesting premise, the chemistry of the 2 main characters and also the main couple is great ( and it should really for many reasons...) and it does have a sort of twist (that I suspected but alas) along with a conflict/plot but....the excecution was lacking a bit. My main issue that the plot was too rushed at times and whole conflict with the gangs felt like it was thrown their out of nowhere. I feel it would have benefited in being longer. Overall, nice premise, nice couple but could have benefited in being longer.
