Honestly, don't use the tutorial. Fails to explain a lot of things and is more confusing than helpful. Spent 45 minutes going through the tutorial because I couldn't do so many things that should just work (rotate rooms, seating etc for the buildings). Spent ages making an awesome clubhouse, tried to place it, and was clearly way too big and had to get rid of it. Playing your course isn't explained well at all, I still have no idea.
Hoped to be something like Sid Meiers Sim Golf, but fails on so many levels. Haven't played enough to give a real recommendation, but just need a break after dealing with the tutorial.

This doesn't seem to have been finished. One of the clues that it should still be in Early Access is that the loading screen says "Early Access" - that's the level of polish that's there :(
I loved Sim Golf. This game isn't it. The virtual golfers don't talk while they play, and they don't seem to think about the course the way Sim Golfers did.
I quit the game and decided to do the refund when I noticed I'd received a letter from a patron complaining that the prices in the restaurant were too high. (The clubhouse and restaurant are separate buildings because... reasons.) I clicked on the restaurant. I clicked on the buildings list. No way to edit the prices (or even select the building at all) was apparent. Nor was this sort of thing covered in the tutorial.
The background music is nice. I think a lot of hard work has gone into this. But this is a fantastically promising student project, not a publishable game.

I had so much hope for this game. There are very few games like this on Steam, and I was hoping that it would be a chill experience where I can just build a golf resort. But, one thing prevented that. Bugs. This game is one of the buggiest games I have ever played. Some examples include,
- Golfers constantly hitting the ball into the water while on the edge of a water hazard
- Golfers constantly putting the ball into the hole without stopping, backing up the whole course
- Terrain bugs
- Golfers getting stuck in a water hazard or teleporting everywhere except the tee box
- CEO unable to move when attempting to test a hole
- Tournaments being unable to start, give out prize money, or end
- And many more I don't have the time to list out here
Overall, if this game's problems were fixed and a few more features were added, I would change my review. I just can't recommend this game to anyone wanting a golf course building game. If you were looking for one, this isn't it.

I was so excited to find a game like SimGolf that I jumped at this and bought without reading reviews or watching gameplay videos, and I regret it.
This game only does landscaping well - everything else is just frustrating. Frustrations listed below:
1. AI is dumb. They all take the same route on a hole, which is usually wrong. Forget having an offset tee box or a dog-leg, the AI just tries to yeet the ball around/over the rough/trees of your dog leg.
2. AI will just seemingly break and stop teeing off when you use the Course feature.
3. Pricing makes no sense. There's no guidelines to how to control the economics in this game.
4. The AI will just stand at random spots while waiting to tee off, including in the middle of the fairway.
5. AI tee off in order and go to balls in that order - so even if the third player in a foursome rolls a ball 10 feet off the tee box and the rest of the group is 200 yards in the fairway, they will all go to player 1's ball, player 2's ball, and then all walk back to the tee box to watch player 3 hit their 2nd shot.
6. There's no rhyme or reason to the additional services you can add, or how to improve them.
I'm sad, as this game looked like it had a lot of promise. Do you research before you buy, as always.

This game could be good. It is currently plagued by a ton of bugs. Sometimes play will stop during tournaments. The participants will have scores of over 3000. Tournaments should last 3-5 days depending on the number of participants but if you start a tournament don't expect it to end for a year or so. Sometimes you will see your income completely broken. The game will show you are making 90k a month and only spending 60k, but you will lose tons of money constantly. This would be a fun game if you are into this kind of tycoon type game if they would address the weird bugs and make it playable.

***GAME ABANDONED BY DEV. DO NOT BUY***
If you're looking for a Sid Meier's Sim Golf replacement, this isn't it..... yet. This game has HUGE potential but I can't quite recommend it in the current state it is in. Of course the game is in Alpha and one can expect lots of bugs and issues with the game, but here's a few issues I had in my short time playing:
1. AI Golfers really struggle to actually play golf. They're okay at getting down the fairway to the green, but once on the green they're absolutely useless, especially when inches from the hole. If the golfer doesn't hole it from 20+ feet away they will run out of strokes
2. Golf ball physics aren't quite right yet. This isn't a golf simulator so it doesn't have to be perfect, but when a ball lands in the sand it needs to stop in the sand, and wedge shots should have more backspin. Maybe a shot shape option much like in Sid Meier's Sim Golf could be added?
3. In the Thousand Lakes map some of the trees' textures are pure white.
4. Tutorial needs to talk more about the Hotel and other Facilities aspect of the game. After completing the tutorial I knew how to build Facilities but didn't understand the financial importance of them yet.
5. All the financial information provided is a great start. However, the only nitpick I have about that right now is that I would like more information on what is going into maintenance expense. I'd be making around 10K, then build a few more holes or a facility and suddenly be losing 5k a month. More information with about that would be extremely helpful.
6. Pathfinding for the AI is a little wonky. AI doesn't use bridges yet, so those are only there for aesthetic currently
7. Fairways will deteriorate over time but landscapers don't seem to fix them. What is the point of having that feature if landscapers won't fix and upkeep fairways? Is this a bug or is there some employee that I haven't unlocked yet?
Overall, this game has HUGE potential, but isn't quite there gameplay or immersion wise. If this were released today with no bugs it would be an okay golf course and resort management game. This game has a long way to go, but I'm excited to see what it will be in 8 months to a year. If you're a fan of Sid Meier's Sim Golf, I can't quite recommend this game yet, but I would suggest keeping an eye on this, it has a chance to be a really awesome game.

Game no longer works right, hasn't been updated in a year or so. I guess the Dev gave up.

I am an avid fan of the golf tycoon games that inspired this game.
That being said, its full of bugs, has few features currently, and can be a tad frustrating at times.
What I enjoy:
- Building Holes
- Playing the Holes I've built
- Adding scenery to my course to make it beautiful
- The aesthetic of this game is very nice
- The music is cute and fanciful
- The developer is extremely interested in what their players have to say
What is Meh:
- Buildings don't feel like they're as useful as they should be
- In-Game UI is pretty basic
What I dislike:
- Path-building is annoying
- Guests get stuck on trees
- The event log/quests are too fast and feel overwhelming
With everything above being said, I still enjoy this game. I believe my concerns will be met with change, and for the price I feel I got my monies worth.

First off, let me say I WANT TO LOVE THIS GAME!
SimGolf was a fun game. One of my all-time favorites. This game has potential. If you can get past the bugs it still lacks the fun of the original. Golfers are hitting fairway shots straight up in the air. There's no measurement tools except tee to green. There's no hole stats (looking at the avg scores per hole is a huge part of the "sim" game). You build a clubhouse and the first hole and there's a dozen messages already and your 2 staff members suck up all your cash....
Look, I just started a new game and on the first hole this golfer is stuck. Game over. Can't move him, can't do anything. Good thing it happened first hole instead of an hour in....

I don't know.. I WANT to love this game. I've waited FOREVER.
I feel like this game was made by people who don't golf and never played the original.
Please make me change my mind and I'll gladly rewrite a review.
ONE MONTH FOLLOW UP - Still a huge disappointment. They patched things (I suppose) but it still is clunky and just not fun. Sim Golf was such a great game. This is a lame knockoff not worth paying for. We've been scammed.
FOUR YEAR FOLLOW UP - I was correct with my original review. Cash grab.

Let me preface this review by saying that like most others who bought into this game I am a huge SimGolf fan. I'm hoping for this game to achieve a status of being the spiritual successor to the best golf management game ever made.
I respect the developers for getting an early copy out for people to play and test and I hope they draw enough founding from it to continue development on it.
That said, the game in its current state has serious problems. The UI needs a serious rework for one, because it feels counter-intuitive at points and stuff like not being able to remove trees or build anything on tiles with trees while in the hole editor is annoying. From what I've seen and tested, the golf physics are not as you'd expect them to be either. The surfaces feel like ice instead of green or fairway, the balls stay in motion for too long and sometimes the stroke you planned for goes way wide for no apparent reason. Golfer AI needs a serious tweak as well, they all go for a single solution to each hole, and most of the time that solution is poor. I had a group of four golfers sit in line on the first stretch of fairway trying to cut the corner of my right dogleg by driving the ball towards the elevated green on a small island with a big pond between them and the hole - they all went short and sunk their ball, over and over again. If ball sales were simulated already I'd have made a million from this in time.
Can't recommend in its current state, but I hope the development will continue and the devs won't be disheartened by the initial critique. I'll continue to check out the game every once in a while to see the improvements.
