I can't recommend this game. The writing is very amateurish, with random exposition dumps that do little to build up the setting. Characterization barely exists, and there are threads brought up only to have them dropped again. A few times throughout the game, I thought there might be something interesting happening--perhaps the game would deal with trauma, or abuse, or even loss. But the actual resolution was so dumb that I just laughed myself silly. Spoilers below: The main character is haunted by demons in his lucid dreams (which we are told seek out people who have broken the barrier between waking and dreaming and torment them with their worst nightmares). His worst nightmare turns out to be that time his big brother spooked him a bit. When he was 10. He's 28 now, and apparently he has suffered from this mild jump scare ever since. He isn't dead, he isn't in a coma, he didn't grow up in an abusive household... no. Just "oh yeah 18 years ago I got a bad spook." Even worse: the ending plays at the main character having to reconnect with his estranged family. Oh ho! So there ARE family issues? ... no, he just moved away two years ago and failed to keep in touch. Honestly, it was an extremely anti-climactic game.

A fun little storytelling experience, w/ medium-difficulty QTE's. Pros: * Interesting storyline, good music. * Good price point for a short game. Cons: * Follows the proto-Luddite "you tried to do something cool, and now you must suffer" paradigm. Meh: * Sets up and completely finishes the premise - while leaving me hungry for more. TL;DR: If you like stories, and can handle moderate mouse-based QTEs, 9/10; else, avoid.

Beautiful game. In this 40 minutes I experienced more feelings than in some big AAA games.

A good game from FNTASTIC? Short, but good. Despite the jokes about 'The Day Before 2023', and its the worst game this month if not year, i'll give props to this game because I did enjoy it. But i'm giving pity marks. I enjoyed the story as short as it was, I was engrossed in the vibe/tone of it. The eeriness got me a few times, wasn't scared, but the creepiness is what sold it to me. Daniel's relationship with his brother is good, as well as the underlying messages throughout. I like this game by FNTASTIC but like I said, pity marks.

From the developers that later made questionable games like Propnight and The Day Before comes a one dollar short single player simplified point & click adventure game, Radiant One. The game focuses on a character name Danial who goes through lucid dreams and learns to control them until he gets stalk by nightmarish creatures based on his childhood past. The gameplay is very mixed with a basic point & click adventure with some QTE encounters plus a clicker mini game which is sadly one of its shortcomings besides its short less than an hour game length. On the positive side, its story & theme was engaging enough to me to where I actually bothered to play through it at least 3 times to get all of the achievements. Despite the developer's awfully bad track record of their past & future games plus recently closing their development studio after making a scam game, Radiant One might be the most decent & competent game they've ever made to where I honestly think they should've stuck around making single player games instead of "attempting" to making an "MMO Survival" game.
Introduction
Radiant One is a story-focused point and click adventure with a couple of quick time events.
Pros & Cons
Pros: + Stylish graphics + Dreamy yet unsettling atmosphere Cons: - Boring gameplay - Story ends abruptly - Too short (around 40 minutes)
Story
You play as Daniel a middle-aged man whose life consists of two things: work and sleep. He tries to learn lucid dreaming to make the most of his second favorite thing. As he masters this ability, his dreams become scarier and harder to distinguish from reality. Until one day they turn into real nightmares that he’ll have to escape in order to survive. While the premise sounds interesting and has all the potential needed to build a dramatic story dealing with phobias and traumas, it all comes down to the most boring conclusion imaginable. Because of that it feels unfinished like it’s just the first part of the story, sadly not.
Gameplay
It’s your usual point and click, but without pixel hunting and with a couple of QTEs thrown in. You just walk around and click on things to learn a bit more about them, there aren’t any puzzles to solve, just find the right object to click on and that’s it. There are chase sequences where you have to run from the nightmarish creature and do some QTEs while you’re at it. They work well to build up the tension, but feel very short and unimaginative.
Graphics & Audio
The only thing done right in this game is its’ visual and audio design. Although it looks very simple with low polygonal models, flat textures and simple animations, it has a certain style to it, that makes it all fit together and create a beautiful picture. Music and sounds are also doing a fine job to create an unsettling dreamy atmosphere.
Performance
Specs: Intel Core i5-7300HQ, 12GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB. The game runs at steady 60 FPS on high settings at 1080p without any technical issues.
Conclusion
If you like short story-focused games, you should give it a pass. Instead pick up one of these fine games, that I've reviewed previously: Florence, Liberated, The Franz Kafka Videogame. Not only do they also have a unique visual style, but they manage to do both gameplay and the story right.

So...Radiant One...was a decent game. I wouldn't call it spectacular, but it was decent for sure.
Story
The story is centered around the protagonist trying to lucid dream in order to avoid his personal demons, and as he gets better at controlling his lucid dreaming, he finds his real life begins to suffer and the lines between the two start to blur. This is when things turn from getting bad to distinctly worse as he has to literally face his personal demons in his dreaming state and can't go to sleep any longer without having violent encounters with said demons.
Gameplay
Gameplay is mostly centered in an apartment or his office. While dreaming, your environment changes occasionally, usually while being chased by one of your demons. Outside of the chase sequences, this is really a lite puzzle room style of game with a lot of point and click elements. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1804141472 It was perfectly functional and I encountered no bugs or issues with the game at all.
Graphics
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1804141757 The graphics in this game are really nice. Everything about the apartment and even the dream areas were done with fine detail and nice use of color and framing. With the isometric cameras, the added attention to detail was appreciated.
Audio
I thought the music in particular was quite well done, but everything in the game sounded believable and the quality was up there.
Verdict
This game weighed in at about 45 minutes, and I probably could have played through again in far less time to earn the other cheevos if I really wanted. That said, I don't feel the game has much in the way of replay value, so you might prefer to wait for a sale if you don't feel a connection with or have an interest in games centered around catharsis. For me, it was interesting enough and a nice length for the content. I enjoyed it well enough.

[th]Byte-sized review[/th] [th]Compartmentalising the subconscious[/th]

Review in under a minute While I can see a small game like Radiant One working on tablets or phones - the game was originally published for iOS - as the audience there tends to be vastly different to your traditional gamer on the PC or console, but playing Radiant One on the PC left me with the feeling that here was a game that wasn't fleshed out enough for the platform it was courting, diving surface deep into topics that deal with lucid dreams, depression and how we connect to our fellow man. In the end Radiant One ends up being far too simplistic, given the topics it broaches, to be truly enjoyable and with very limited gameplay one has to wonder who the target audience for this is on the PC. Audio and graphics were pleasant enough though and the game can be completed in under an hour if you are looking for a short palette cleanser.

One word or phrase to sum up the experience Surface-deep

Performance/Bug related incidents None, game ran smoothly and without any issues. This is genuinely one of the worst mobile ports I have ever seen. The FREE game available on mobile has more content than the paid Steam version, the ''game'' is nothing but quick-time events combined with an uninteresting story. This is also made by the same people as The Day Before. Please do not give these people your money.

Fntastic has so far released 3 games and Radiant One is one of them. Available not only on Steam but on the AppStore, too. You can clearly see that this is a port as some of the interactions (holding down the mouse button and moving it to a particular direction) are very similar to doing a swipe on our smartphone's display. In any case, this is a short game which is about lucid dreams. Daniel, our protagonist, "mastered" the way he dreams as he made sure he can manage to do incredible things while he's asleep. This is all thanks to a book he carefully examined. Now, the game tells us the story of 3 particular nights during which Daniel is attacked by shadowy creatures who can actually injure him (think of Nancy from Nightmare on Elm Street who woke up bleeding after an encounter with Freddy). Although he fears going back to sleep it is, after all, inevitable. Gameplay consists of walking around in his apartment and interacting with various objects. Eventually, Daniel goes to sleep and then we find ourselves in dreamlike sequences that are more action-oriented which means there are some quick-time events. Walking through a corridor with red curtains reminded me of the equally creepy sequences of Twin Peaks. Radiant One is a great, albeit short, indie game which is easy to complete while obtaining all 'cheevos. If you like games with illusionary sequences and mystical elements do give this one a go.
