What can I say? Scud Frenzy is a great game! This isn't your typical platformer where you can simply stand in one place idley. Scud Frenzy is a fast paced guns blazing shooter, where if you stand still for a second you do so at your detriment. The artwork is all hand-drawn and is amazing! So if you like destroying everything in your path, and getting big rewards, this is the game for you. Look out for traps, and mind the monsters!
I'd also like to say that this game will give you your money's worth and more.

In the short time I've played this game, I've had more fun then in hours upon hours of plethora of others. This is a fun interesting take on a platformer shooter, and is tons of of fun!

Scud Frenzy is an addictive, run-and-gun in alien mazes against a countdown. Players must destroy crates, vending machines, monsters, and shields to gain score. Power-ups include shotguns and rocket launchers to cause even more damage and open up levels so you move around faster. Strategically placed explosive crates can be attacked for area-of-effect explosions. Like the other games by this developer, the art style is bright and vibrant. The characters and collectables are interesting and fun, and you can unlock new skins for your character (who doesn't like a rocket pack corn cob with a popcorn jet stream?). A great game and really good value, highly recommended!

Remember shooting all the things, to get to the top of the leaderboards? Well welcome to Scud Frenzy, where no matter how hard I try, 20th is the best I will ever do. ;) Personally, I really like Windy's work and his art style is fantastic. The game is fun, with plenty of cosmetics to collect, and for $6, it's a steal imo.

Scud Frenzy is a solid over the top, twin-stick shooter, score attack, action game with good systems and fun gameplay mechanics. Super fast pace shooting and massive destruction with time limited exploration makes this a unique experience within the genre.
Each level only lasts about 1 minute which makes replaying them a few times to figure out the best path to victory a unique and interesting gameplay loop. Finding powerful weapons or +10 second time pickups are incredibly rewarding as they allow you to keep racking up the multiplyer and hit that high score.
Beating levels gives you stars which you can use to unlock some unique and mostly silly cosmetic skins for your character. My favorite is the broken egg head and the sub sandwich jetpack. While the art is overall good with inviting colors and interesting designs, it suffers from visual overload at times with a lot of detail in every asset, so dying by running into spikes and hazards that you don't notice is a regular occurance. Since the layouts are fixed, you will always remember where they are so you can avoid them on your next run.
With 40 highly replayable levels and a bunch of fun unlockables, Scud Frenzy is a solid action game that is certainly worth the low price.

This is a fine little game show-style twin-stick shooter. It's fun to play and the artwork is nice along with the occasional commentary from the announcer. But I give it a thumbs down because of the difficulty level-it is way too hard from the beginning. The scores you need to advance and unlock levels are just too high at the start and while there are powerups you can buy to help you out, ou really have to do all kinds of grinding to get them after you buy the first few you can get after the tutorial.
If you can catch this on a good sale it's worth giving a try, but if you have little patience or don't like games that start out incredibly hard and don't let up (with no options to adjust difficulty levels) then pass on this one.

This game does NOT work with my xbox 360 wireless controller and I am not the only one with this problem. The 1.4 hours shown played is the amount of time I have wasted trying to get it to work. Meanwhile, crickets from the dev. Nothing like paying money for a game that is unplayable. Don't waste your neetbux on this tripe.

Controller support is needed.
-my gamepad used to work (meets x-box 360 standards) on my system (Win 10, 64 bit), but now it doesn't. I tried contacting the dev ..and he did eventually respond. (See end of review)
Game starts out too hard. SCUD looks like a fun little casual game, but quickly turns into a chore of repeating the same level over and over until you can beat some ridiculous highscore chosen out of thin air. I'm stuck on the 3rd level. I can't figure out how to get my score high enough. until then I can't see ANY other content this game has. (there is no sandbox 'play around' or any other mode)
PROS

can earn credits to buy items from a store: from new jetpacks to new helmets(?)

can buy Perks, which make certain aspects of the game easier

CONS

difficulty ramps up way too soon & no difficulty selection

only one game mode

full controller support is currently broken. everything works on my controller except for my d-pad, which is how you move in this game
UPDATE:
dev replied to me and said he didn't change anything on his end. that I should check my drivers on my controller. (I've been too BORED with this game to even BOTHER trying)

I don't expect much from Indie games nowadays, usually they feel unfinished and lack fun and addiction. But not in this case! I actually really enjoyed this game. It does feel hard an annoying at times, but this brings me back to the old days when you had to keep trying in order to get that sense of accomplishment. The developer has put a lot of effort into making this game which shows in the quality of the art, the design and the music and sounds. For £4.99 you can't complain, as it gives hours of fun, and if it doesn't give you hours of fun, then pass the controller onto your friend to try and help you out. This is a great 'go to' game that you can just pick up and play at any time, be it for 5 minutes or an all nighter (to get all those damn medals).
You will sweat and you will cry, and you will most likely throw your controller at the wall in rage... Fun times to be had by all.
"You gotta try harder than that!"

Right off the bat I wanna say that I have a ton of love for everything Windybeard creates. With that being said, I am not feeling this one - and I am sad to report this.
Scud Frenzy just lacks that addictiveness that the devs previous titles have. Everything else about the game is super tight. The artwork and music are some of the best I've seen from Windybeard. The controls are great and if you get into it, there is a ton of content.
Essentially, this is a static level score chaser with online leaderboards. Okay sounds great. Each level is a minute-ish. The gameplay is very much 'shopping spree' where you simply shoot everything and try to keep your combo going. There are specific blocks that help keep said combo going. There are metagame unlocks, but it's all cosmetics. The only things you can get are different weapons, but they are on a timer and don't last long. The whole game is about finding 'lines' through levels to maximize score.
Pros:
+No complaint about price; the whole thing is quite polished
+Music and artwork are great
+While it's fun, this genre is so crowded and there are just better score chasers out there (and lets face it, once you get into a score chaser - it's a total time dump)
Cons:
-Not really that addicting for me
-While there are metagame upgrades, dieing gives you _nothing_ and it is particularly unsatisfying in this game
-No way to gain back lost health, which just feels bad
-Could use functional unlockables (but I'm sure that messes with the online leaderboards, I don't know)
-The point system either feels obscure, or too simple, but either way it needs something
If you are a fan of Windybeard, you need to get everything they make. I'm just saying that this particular title isn't my favorite, and I just wish there were a bit more to it.
