I HATE aliens, im not racist or anything I just dont place the lives of non humans above the lives of humans, this driving philosophy first discovered when i was like 12 and the movie avatar came out is imparative for you to understand later grievances. BE-A Walker is an amazing walking simulator in which you will spend your most formative hour(s) buckling like a baby deer trying desparately to curb stomp a scary looking rabbit. By the time your comfortable striding in your walker manually you will be given the power of god in your hands and told to set fire to the enemies of the state. If you like me are struggling to play the game, dont fret, just keep at it and I promise at some point it all just clicks. BE-A Walker is largely a flash game, not one of those crappy ones but the ones all your friends at school knew cool work arounds to get past the school censors and would play religiously. BE-A Walkers gameplay is to walk to the right while annihilating anything that stands between you and walking to the right some more, be careful because sometimes enemies will come from the left forcing you to back up. Throw in mine fields and missions where you are told NOT to crush things under your large feet and you have a great formula that the game uses well, dosn't stay too long or loiter on one gimmick too often, the bulk of the game is murdering bad dudes while walking right. I do... have a gripe, its a major gripe and from what I can tell its one that will require absolute story spoilers, in short I am personally not a fan of the story. Due to the nature of the game this is absolutely unobtrusive and my fettish for felling aliens in droves is well fed here. If you want a spoiler free answer, the story felt like a first draft that had been pushed without refinement or lacked any outside input during its polish phase. Thats not to say its universally awful and the devs should feel bad but that I personally did not care for it. Spoilers:
You play as Walker, whose brother is murdered by aliens in the tutorial. Taking up the mantle you enjoy stomping around murdering natives as you see fit in your bummy no upgrades walker. Its mentioned at points that the aliens are savages, refuse to communicate despite humans trying to explain their situation and have murdered on screen many many unarmed humans wearing little more than a rubber smock and a glass jar on their heads. See its not that humans cant BREATHE on this alien world its that the bacteria and other microflora are just super hostile so you'll die around 15 seconds after removing your helmet out there. Never fear though because the indominatble human spirit has a plan, its called AIDS-2, using this super virus humans intend to cultivate aliens that are immune to human disease so that they can uhhh ... So the facility doing this is attacked horribly by aliens who free their enshackled bretheren. This is now a problem.

AIDS-2 is SUPER infectious and kills quickly, without recourse the aliens have just signed a species wide death warrant. Theres some bickering between the named characters about what should be done. The scientists want to try and cure AIDS-2, the military wants to cull the local alien villages responsible for the recent raid to stop AIDS-2 from spreading to the rest of the planet. The game now gives you a choice, murder aliens (They killed your brother and refuse to elaborate) or defect and work on a cure to save aliens (They have killed dozens of people on screen). Make no mistake this is not a morally gray route choice, if you choose to cull the aliens the game will treat you like hitler, whilst curing the aliens is the plucky good guy route. On paper I understand this choice, "Dont kill native people Columbus" but narratively it makes little sense. If we side with the cure the aliens crowd they tell us in no uncertain terms that only 30% of the aliens PLANET WIDE will survive, that the general is murdering all the aliens PLANET WIDE and that the aliens never saw humans as living things because of their big mechs and bulky combat suits. Now my problem with this is 30% is a very VERY low survival rate for an entire planet as compared to killing say 10 or 20% of them in the local area to ensure the disease dosn't spread. The space suit thing is what makes me the most angry. We have seen ON SCREEN scientists in gasmasks, no enviromental suits just breathing masks which are mostly clear plastic and the aliens still killed them. We have seen on screen people in rubber enviroment suits being slaughtered by aliens and you tell me that the aliens just diddnt know humans existed? Is it because the envoy is unarmed? You telling me nobody has ever tried to communicate with them unarmed? Isn't that convenient that every diplomat gripped their rifle until they died? If you do side with the general the all of one character that remains loyal simply copes and tells everyone to just listen to the general whilst siding with the xenohumpers has poetic waxing about absolving the warlike nature of humanity by co-existing with aliens :^3. The game lets you choose but understand there is a correct one.

Regardless of the side you choose the games ending is fixed so its really just a choice between fighting mostly humans or fighting mostly aliens then fighting the leader of the opposing faction in the games only 1v1 mech battle. No matter what you do during this fight you die. The opposing leader fires a 'Rocket' as they die which slams the oxygen tank on your mech. Your character opens the hatch and looks out at the alien world raising their visor to get a good look, then dies. This ending sucks :^(. Maybe its not for me and I certainly get it, not everyone survives a war but it feels cheap that after surviving as much as I had the upgrades and systems on my mech, the people I had helped to save or the savages I had turned to because I HATE capitalism, nobody comes to rescue me, nobody comes to help, a character whines in your communicator about how they couldn't stand to loose you and how if you just make it a bit farther theres a base you can repair at, but the story concludes with walkers death to a cheap unavoidable rocket. For shame :^(
Besides my major bellyaching with the story (Im autistic leave me alone) I REALLY enjoyed my time with BE-A Walker, its incredibly simple to play and once you get your stride (Literally) its hard to put down, the core gameplay is incredibly fun and the devs struck gold with this one. At roughly 10USD this game is everything I could ask for and even meets that whole "dollar per hour of fun" mark that some people use. its light and easy to keep installed on your drive for a rainy day and I am all in all satisfied with my purchase.

This game has the absolute worst controls I've ever encountered. It's an absolute chore just to take two steps forward, there's also no meaningful tutorial. It's just impossible to enjoy playing it.

Rather fun for what it is. The price tag is pretty okay for the amount of time I've spent, which is right under 5 hours to complete a single playthrough. The gameplay itself can be bite-sized as each mission took me about 3-5 minutes per walk. Difficulty could vary wildly depending on loadout taken. I only suffered a defeat once from lack of O2 while on a mission that required taking someone along. Easily mitigated by being efficient and careful on the next run. I give this game a solid 7/10, the story is indeed pretty much "Avatar" and the conflict on Pandora. The entire premise of the game is resource-hungry colonials vs. the xeno-natives of a new world. Make of that what you will, there's no real political injections, it's a tale as old as time itself. Now for those who want spoilers, I can tell you enough down below. From the onset of the game's intro you are told that despite all attempts at peaceful diplomacy the natives ruthlessly murder and slaughter anyone they find. That these spear-chucking arrow-firing xenos are able to take down power-armored soldiers and mechs. The game's tutorial is fun, it primes you with the tale of "Your brother died holding the line" and expects you to pick up the torch. Which is fine, the story is basic but serves it's purpose. The main fill of this game is stompy robot with unique movement mechanics that are solid and take a little learning. At one point of the tale you'll be demanded to pick a side - human interests or saving the xenos. A viral outbreak is infecting the locals and might wipe out their species. I took up the fight against the Humans and decided to protect the xenos, which I'll redo with a second playthrough. It sums up as the locals still are hostile savages and while research comes along nicely for making humanity able to breathe the native atmosphere you end up with having to kill people you knew and along the way losing those you were helping. The game ends rather unceremoniously, and I won't spoiler that ending here. Suffice to say it left me agreeing that it needed more than just a sudden, halting stop. Regardless, worth the ten dollars USD, and I'll beat it a second time before I shelf it for good.

This game is needlessly tedious. You spend long levels carefully stepping over oblivious civilians or buried land mines, and you are forced to individually control the up and down motion of each of your legs (not simply forward or back) while doing this. This is not enjoyable or rewarding gameplay - certainly not what people image when they picture themselves piloting an off-brand AT-ST. When you do get to shoot, your main weapon overheats in just a few shots and you are forced to spend my levels upgrading it to the point where it approaches fun. I wasn't expecting much from the story, but it's worse than many free flash games I've played. I regret paying money for this.

cool game, gets repetitive fast. still fun, but the ending was so bad I never want to play the game again. I was going to give this game a good review, but a game like this, that has such limited gameplay and little replayability should have been carried by the story. but the problem is the story falls short so whats the point of even playing? the story is... fine. I found the plot to be basic, but enough to keep me playing. the motivation of some of the characters is baffling and not understandable at all unfortunately, but I'm going to chalk it up to translation error because a 2nd grader could make up a more believable conflict . good job putting in two endings developer, even if no one is going to see both because the first one was so disappointing, there is no reason for anyone put in the time to get the other. Also the ending boss took me ( I'm not using hyperbole) literally ONE SECOND to defeat. ONE SECOND. way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory developer. " but the developer ran out of resources and couldn't-" shut. the. fuck. up. An ending that bad is inexcusable you should be ashamed of yourself developer. To make such a cool game and then utterly fail, right as the game should be hitting the high point. My balls are blue and I'm blaming you. day ruined.

If you ever wanted to be inside an AT-ST while shooting the Naavi from Avatar this is the game for you (Warning: Moderate-High difficulty even on normal mode, it mostly depends on your loadout.)

Honestly a unique and fun game, but the downsides made me not recommend it. Heres a list from least to worst reasons: 1. A lot of grammatical errors, the translation is noticeably sub-par. 2. Can be repetitive 3. This one made me down vote- the endings are awful and their is not secret ending. I won't spoil it but I was left disappointed and sad having gotten attached to the story and getting no closure whatsoever! Lazy writing! The developer stated they didn't have the resources to finish. Unique concept and gameplay, poor writing and story-telling.
