Between the rhythm and strategy elements, this game is pretty smartly designed, independent of it's theme. But come on now, the theme is amazing. Solidarity with Pride.

Pride run is a sparkly and cute LGBTQ+ themed rhythm game, which takes the form of a pride parade through various prominent cities across the globe, followed by a "boss fight" at the end of each run against a satirization of what I can only assume are well-known homophobes. At least, that's the first game mode. The second game mode, called "Play Hard", I am far too smooth-brained to understand, let alone complete. Obviously, I won't be discussing that mode here. The "Vanilla" mode is decent for a rhythm game, although I'm pretty sure there's no way to customize the controls, which is only a minor drawback. The aesthetic is fantastic, while the music is on the better side of mediocre. The in-game music, I mean. The main menu music is more in line with the overall aesthetic of the game, which I mean in the best way possible. I'm only a tiny bit surprised that they didn't do something similar with the level themes. I have no comment on the "Play Hard" mode, simply because I couldn't play it. 10/10

It has some great music, that's the best part tbh. The pixel art style is cute but a little rough. The art design is good all around aside from some slight lack of polish. And the gameplay? Yes indeed, it is a Music Rhythm Real Time Strategy game. There's a Rhythm-game-only mode, but the meat of it is in the unique Rhtyhm-RTS hybrid mode. As a massive fan of Action Strategy Hybrids, I'm always glad to see unique combinations with the strategy genre like this. Oh right, I'm suppose to comment on the THEME. I like Trump and don't believe the "he's anti-gay" rhetoric. The game is a hilarious parody of modern gay politics. I think it's fucking awesome but could use a little polish. The fact that this is a leftist troll in game form just maxes out the comical value.

Pride run is an unapologetically gay, bright, and fun rhythm game with bangin' music! I don't play a lot of rhythm based games, I can probably count just on one hand how many I've played, but I really liked this, and the mode with the RTS elements really makes it stand out from other games of the genre. As it says in the description, the game has two modes; Vanilla Mode and Play Hard Mode. Double entendre aside, Vanilla Mode is the standard rhythm-based part of the game. You lead a Pride parade through different levels based on real cities from around the world, smashing the arrow keys in time with the music. The bigger the combo you string together and the more accurate you are with pressing the keys or controller buttons, the more people will join the parade. Play Hard Mode is where the RTS mechanics come in. In this one you lead the parade with different subgroups of the LGBT+ community supporting you in the group. As you pass by different people in the crowd of onlookers, a symbol corresponding to one of the groups appears over their head and you have to have the corresponding group dance in front of them. When you do it enough, you'll gain more people in the crowd, making your parade stronger against the different homophobic counter protesters you'll encounter on your route. This mode is pretty interesting because, due to the parade constantly moving, you have to often times think fast with which crowd to focus on with which group. The different groups have different stats as well, some are more suited for defending against the homophobes (Which honestly would have been best suited for the "Ally" group, but I digress), while others are best used to pull more people into the parade. There are also boss battles in both modes, which... honestly could have been a lot better. They're easily the weakest part of the game, due to the commands not wanting to work half the time. Seriously, whether I used a controller or keyboard half the time it wouldn't register the arrow keys I was pressing and I would miss with my attack, when I really shouldn't have. I don't know if my game is just lagging while I'm playing, but if not an update fixing this would be very much appreciated. The soundtrack in this is pretty good too, very catchy and fits with the theme of the game. I've been to one Pride event and I could definitely hear this type of music playing at one. I might even pick it up as DLC to listen to in my spare time. Overall this is a very fun and pleasant game with a nice sense of humor, none of which feels mean-spirited, and some interesting gameplay for the Play Hard Mode. You should definitely check it out if it interests you or you like rhythm based games, you'll get some decent game time out of it, especially in the Play Hard Mode, unlocking the different other LGBT+ groups, and you'll be supporting a good cause while doing so with 10% of the revenue going to an LGBT+ organization. Pride Run is a game I think you'll like whether you're LGBT+ or not.

This game is a fun rhythm game but i end up enjoying what is happening more than the gameplay, but what is happening is so entertaining that i dont mind that the gameplay feels a little bit lackluster. also it is funny to see cishets like donald trump get gay-ified.

Always thought visual novels are the worst type of game to feature LGBT elements. But hey! There could always be innovations that blows your mind!

Starting with the most important information: I do recommend this game because it's enjoyable, but there's currently a game-breaking bug. The penultimate level in Play Hard mode always locks up at the end; this locks out the final level and several achievements. Caveat emptor. (Also it seems the Buenos Aires level on Vanilla, Vicious difficulty, doesn't record scores. Not sure currently whether this affects achievements or not.) Pride Run is genuinely fun, colourful, amusing and has a great soundtrack. "Vanilla" mode is a straightforward rhythm-matching game. "Play Hard" mode, which revolves around rearranging parade groups and using their special abilities, is the Dark Souls of LGBTQ+ rhythm games. I cannot overstress how difficult it can be until you finally get the hang of using shields and conserving the best abilities for when it counts. Sadly I suspect that as the game is several years old now, the aforementioned bug won't be fixed. Will update review if it is.
