I tried for 2 hours to give this game a chance, but it sucks, it has some good ideas but the execution fails expetacularly because of the controls. As a lot of the other reviews will tell you, the game is hard and that`s great, but the difficulty is exponentially increased by the terrible lack of responsiveness of the controls. You will die a lot, but not because of your mistakes, but because the hit detection is really really bad. Fix the hit detection and you will have a solid game, as it is right now, not recomended...

I will start by saying that I do not know when I grew so old. Better said, I reckon time is defined by some sort of sarcasm that I do not always understand. Although I cannot always tell when it flies by me with increasing speed, I do observe that my own tolerance for crap has been drastically falling. Especially for video games, one of the primary hobbies that I still keep. What happened to this medium of art, one cannot tell. In a mass of unrecognizable products, with too little uniqueness to show for themselves, the consumer ends being tormented by mediocrity to a point where one prefers to reorient oneself to other means of entertainment. From time to time, especially now that technology has allowed for the expression of unknown talent to wider markets, you stumble upon little gems that remind one why so much energy had been invested in pixels swirling behind a piece of glass or plastic. Azuran Tales, although not without its own faults, minuscule in comparison with much grander titles that I have played this year, makes my heart warm at the sight of a long-passed childhood enjoyed in the company of titles that constantly stared at me with unflinching conviction that one must first suffer before enjoying the fleeting senses of happiness. It is an unforgiving title that will treat you well if one just invests enough for it to consider you worthy. Another great opportunity to support inventive and talented developers that still want games to be what they once were: the opportunity to explore the need for self-improvement. I do recommend it, and I hope that you will enjoy this as much as your time allows.

A challenging 3D platformer with his own identity. Not a big fan of platformers, but this one has something that gets me, maybe is the difficulty, or the skills, or/and the combat. If you like challenging 3D platformers, give it a try, for this low price, has lots of content and its quite fun. Ahh.... A shiny new armor! ... Dead!

This game was alot of small twist in platforming games and a good amount of challenges. I wasn't some god or op character which made me focus on the game alot more. loot was distrubited fairly and it made explore the area finding new things which was cool. The level up system was okay and I'm not sure if it had any effect on my character. It got buggy when i wasn't able to damage to goblins that applied the slowing condition on me out of nowhere and the my attack animation wasn't as fast as i though it would be. Most of the monsters could tank damage which I thought i could stagger them, and basic monster can one or two shot you. Monster placement was not to my liking as well as i could not get to a portal without a mob ganging up on me or two golems camping by a gate i needed to open to progress. how ever This is fun and i can't for the imporvements to be made

The game is HARD + Gameplay + Level up system + Story + Athmosphere + Graphic Style - Some combat mechanics need improvement - Stamina cost for roll - Cannot interrupt attacks EDIT: Another thing on the plus side + the developer is active and responsive to sugestions

+ a lot of work went into the environment and models - story is given as pages to collect; I'm a fan of "show, don't tell" in games - wonky controls (played on keyboard & mouse) - a few bugs - the foreground can block the view of combat/traps - achievements don't work (still? saw another review mention it...) overall: there's a lot of potential there, but as it is I can't recommend it

A fantastically challenging game which punishes you for every minor misstep! Expect to die - a lot. The level design is fantastic. My favourite moment was when I came out of a dungeon and was suddenly overlooking this massive forestal temple ruins that seemed like it went for miles in the background. Loads of detail was put into making the game world look good, and the end-boss level was just epic. What I read of the story was good stuff. I liked the dynamic between the paladin and the Death Goddess, though I'll admit - most of my attention went to beating the game. There is a wide variety of enemies and scenarios in which different enemy groups appear, making just about every fight feel unique. There are plenty of boss battles, and each is a different experience in dying. The checkpoints are generous and will often land you right back in the action when you resurrect. All the fights and enemies have some sort of weakness to exploit, though in your first playthrough you're often forced to throw yourself at new encounters to learn their telegraphs through merciless one-shots. It can be difficult to discern what will penetrate your shield, and there are a few tricky hitboxes on some of the bosses and traps (those damn sharks!). Dying in the early game can feel crippling as you will lose sigil shards (used for stat progression) quite often, which can lead to feeling like you're falling behind, but don't fear as the game constantly rewards you with loot piles from enemies and chests and by the end, you can easily max everything out. The controls are very easy to pick up. Once you master the aerial dodge-roll you feel super agile, and with your stamina regen maxed out you can easily outmaneuver most enemies. Vertical controls feel rigid though - especially ladder climbing and pulling yourself up from ledges, which is an integral part of almost every level. It can be a little cruel at times, as your first failed run into a new area can aggro enemies to a ledge where they will then stay, laying the beatdown in the window of vulnerability forced on you when you're yanking yourself up the side. But no matter how hard and brutal it can be, it can be done with patience and persistence! Definitely pick this up if you enjoy a challenge!
