Instinct Reviews
It’s so nice to live with the person you like, to have everything necessary for a good life, to depend on yourself and have a good time. Up till recently my wonderful life of leisure in the pet store ran its natural course, when suddenly a weird bozo appeared in the house. Why did Mistress hire him?

Honestly i have no idea how i came to own this game but it was not very good, Every route was super dark and all the women talk like they were written by men, The art work was good though.

This is a pretty good vn! Not very long, but I wasn't expecting much for the money. The characters and the art are cute, and there are a good amount of CG's for how short it is. I also love when games offer a yuri route, like this one. Evelyn was definitely the better choice, her ending was more romantic and very sweet; I didn't really like Christian that much as he is the perpetrator of a lot of sexual harassment, but that's more of just a personal distaste. There is also a lot of ecchi, so if you like that then this is your game. The story isn't too complex, but it draws you in enough that it's easy to finish in one sitting. There are 4 endings and a few achievements you can get as well, so that's always a bonus.
All in all, I think Instinct deserves a positive review. I hope to play the sequel whenever it comes out, as well. (:

The protagonist is cute and funny, I liked her a lot. The other characters... meh. They're bland, from their personalities to their appearance. I think more consideration went into the villain than the two love interests.
The setup and world is interesting, although there isn't much explanation, probably because the game is quite short. The ecchi scenes are okay, except the last ones look kind of awkward. The game does contain implied abuse and sexual assault and the villain is creepy.
I wouldn't recommend it, as there are many better ecchi and romance games out there. I got it on sale for like $2 so in that respect I got my money's worth.

I wasn't really sure how to even rate this game... On one hand, it's not the best... But on the other hand, it's not beyond hope. Can we settle for a neutral review instead?
Reasons to read this one: Nice artwork/Fun music... You like girls and big chests? You will SEE A LOT OF THEM. At least I got one picture with a guy's body... Which wasn't even uncovered... And by then I felt too bad for him to actually appreciate it... So if you are into guys: You get one picture. There. OH! If you like maid uniforms and girls in revealing outfits... Then you can look at the art too! Also, know this: it is censored in the spots "that matters". XD
The story... The characters... You wont get attached to any of them. You don't even get to learn much about them. At first you might start to hate the guy, only to realize that Evelyn is the worst one of them all. Consider her the "crybaby" of the story. That's all she does. For those who read: Yes, she had been through a traumatic experience... But she needs to talk it out with someone! She keeps it hidden inside! She says she loves her animal, right? Then proceeds to not tell her anything. No trust. At all.
If you play Evelyn's route... It's mainly to look at large chests. That's it. You are going to have to ignore a lot of things... Not ask any questions at all...
If you play the guy's route: You still wont find out much about anyone. In fact, you wont learn about the MC's (Main Characters) past. BUT in his defense, I get why he is so secretive. Also, I thought he was homeless? He is really bad at taking care of himself.
Oh, there is another guy: THE BAD GUY. You can't date him. He is beyond evil. We only find out about him at the end and through his actions. MMKAY... I don't like him and he is nuts... So maybe that's the only character they went all out for and developed somewhat... You WILL hate him... Unless you are into that kinda stuff... I don't care. I don't know you.
Right, the story is short, but it has lots of images of women to look at. By that I meant: too many for me. I lived though. There are four endings and a gallery... Options aren't really confusing... You can figure them out by yourselves...
Backgrounds! That's what I tried to remember, those are adorable. I have a question about the lone kitty silhouette in the cages though... Is that a toy? Did all the other cats get bought out and this one is the only one left? Can I adopt it? Seriously, please tell me that's a toy for a placeholder! I can't stop thinking about it!
How you will feel reading this game: No idea. How I felt: Cringey at some moments and having blast at the others. Except the dark scenes. If you literally... Stop thinking and just read? This story has some really interesting and unpredictable ways of showing things to you. Things come out of nowhere... Stupidity... No, I wont go into details... I turned off my thoughts, remember?
You know how there is a movie that tries to be serious, but is actually pretty hilarious? This is something along those lines. There is potential, but it has to be done in a different manner. I also want to know wth the MC wasn't allowed to go help Christian?! I wanted to see an epic battle! Well okay, at least I got a somewhat of a lewd scene at the end between the two characters.................
That's it: It's a good laugh, but only if you don't take it seriously. Also, if you like pretty pictures. Those are nice too.
P.S. Still think this is neutral......................... I love that MEOW in the beginning!
P.P.S. That cat silhouette was a toy, right?

The only thing I can say about this game is its lack of choice options and the weak plot that is supposed to be enjoyble in this game. There are only really 3 or 4 choices you get to make and this game is literally played in two hours. Towards the end there is so much more that is added to the plot that can definitely be brought in earlier and expand the game. This game starts out too carefree with a sudden aggressive and "somber" ending. In any case it's better to receive this product for free rather than spend $5 dollars on a two hours game.
PS the only real "sensual" in this game is a rape scene that in no way should be the most detailed of all the scenes. Consent should always be a factor in these cases, we don't want young boys to get "busy" with rape scenes and make them think it's okay for them to do it too.

I bought Instinct as part of a bundle deal so I didn't really know anything about it as it was the other games I was mainly interested in. I saw you could play as a cute cat girl and the brief description mentioned how "everyone has a secret", so I thought "okay, let's go find out what those secrets are". Expecting some sort of fun mystery, I loaded the game and found out how utterly wrong I was.
Let's start with Ginger, the protagonist... The majority of the plot revolves around her acting like a spoilt child that's not getting her own way and starts to question the trust of her loved ones. This occurs all because her mistress doesn't want to tell her something - not really the end of the world but to Ginger, it seems to be. She is so utterly desperate to find out what is going on that she resorts to offering herself up in exchange for information. This just leads to her getting groped and forced to make out with some guy but receiving no answers. Because she's still clueless (in more than one way) she ends up in a pretty stupid situation where she is almost sexually assaulted - there is also no trigger warning for this anywhere.

I mean sure, games are there for entertainment and fantasy but this really isn't my kind of thing and it would have been nice to know there was that kind of content beforehand as it's fairly detailed. Either way, that is literally the entire plot of the game until the last 5 minutes. That's where some real story is implemented as if they are setting the grounds for a sequel but having slugged my way through the rest of this visual novel, it just seemed pointless for them to start trying at that point. Sure, there is plenty of sexual tension, stupid jokes and fan service but not much in the form of a solid plot at all.
The options are also severely lacking. It takes a whole of one answer to determine the romance outcome from what I could see - the rest is just filler I imagine. The whole thing could do with another proof-read. I don't know about you, but I certainly don't randomly say I sigh instead of actually just sighing instead - that's just weird!
Giving credit where it's due, the art is pretty decent; it mainly consists of pantie and boob shots but hey, I've learned that that is the main point of this... Gotta love how mistress has to cross her arms under her chest so often just to hold those things up...
Sex sells, yarda yarda. That's great and all but for the love of the maker, if you are going to have a plot, at least put some effort into it!

unexplained, you are a cat person. I dont know if you used to be a literal cat that transformed or if cat people exist. But there are two LIs, Mistress Evelyn (the woman who houses you) and your coworker/supervisor at the pet store you work at, Christian.
Outside of being a little confused about who this was written for (multiple semi-nude/panty shots of the female protaganist- I thought I was suppose to relate to being her, not sexually ogle "myself"?) there is also another major issue. I value consensual sexual activities quite a lot. Cat person decides to trade sexual favors for information about someone she cares about? Okay, she can do that. Make a fool of herself, show some cleavage. Whatevs. But Christian has the audacity to grope her at long length, even tweak her nips, only to call her a fool and advise her to never trade sexual favors for such little things. What am I supposed to think? what a nice guy for taking advantage of her only that much? Hard Pass. And I'm not into women. So no, don't recommend.

So, coming from very story rich and exciting visual novels to this one, might not be the best idea. -Unless of course you really want to unwind with a slightly trivial softcore VN that's pushing yuri and straight in equal measure. Instinct is not a bad little visual novel by any means, and if you install the 18+ patch, certainly not, but don’t expect Hamlet or The Odyssey to jump out from the pages. The art is very polished and clean, as if a spec of dust would ruin the whole world, and the music is better left off, unless you of course like the same thing over and over for however long you need to get though the story. I give this a recommendation, mostly for the yuri part of the story, because personally I found the straight route to be flat and unremarkable. -And I suppose there's nothing wrong with a little ‘unwinding’ to a couple of beautiful gals here and there :)
