Very fun top down rogue-like! I enjoy the theme of the game and all the fun weapons to use. If you want something small and simple I would recommend to get this game!

If you have the EtG withdrawal, this game is for you! It's fun and pretty difficult, with some interested mechanics inside. Also, the music are so great, 303-ish acids vibes rolling you out again and again. Guys, many thanks for the game!!

The game is from my most beloved genre and after playing it for 10+h I do find it to be a bit lackluster. Weapons: Though there is some diversity, I have to say that all the melee weapons and mot pistol-tier weapons are inadequate. When it comes to melee, it's just useless - there is not enough range to hit a miniboss or a boss without taking damage. Hitting regular enemies would require you to run up to them under sometimes intense cross-fire only to find that you can't even one hit the weakest opponents. Most pistol type weapons are simply inferior to the original we get on basic character and the doctor. Their basic weapons have endless range and perfect accuracy. Why would anyone want to switch to a weapon with lower damage and shorter range? Healing - you can get healed max two hitpoints at base, which is never enough. So far I haven't managed to go beyond first stage of the third planet, despite playing similar games on ultrahard difficulties. It's not because the enemies are too difficult, but because oftenwise the best weapon I find throughout the entire run (or can afford) is the basic pistol. Items and Anti-Items - it would be nice to have some information hovering above them before we have to switch to our browser to see whether it's worth picking them up. Similar games have separate wikis for them, it would be great to have one for Planetary Dustoff too. Base. Over 34 runs I only twice met a person to be invited to the base. Including one time where I did not defeat the boss before dying so I currently only have the ammo guy. It's too RNG. There is no miniquest as in "unlock the doors", "rescue them by defeating enemies" or anything of the sorts. There is no unlockable that would allow me to start the run from the 2nd, 3rd planet, it's always from the beginning with the same setup, same enemies, same minibosses and bosses. It gets tedious and sometimes downright offturning to think that "here we go again, RNG time". When picking up a new active item, the last one simply disappears instead of being dropped and able to be picked up again. Again, combined with the lack of info before picking up items, this can be punishing. It's not a good thing when the game punishes you for trying out new things. Achievements are lackluster. Still no idea what coin emblem does. Enemies shooting from off-screen are not fun :( On the positives I love the pixelart, I like the procedurally generated maps, I like the enemies and the dialogues in the base. Feel like this game is still in process, but seeing that people 4 years ago had the same identical concerns, I'm afraid that the content expansions or development are no longer on the table. Good game if you just want to waste some time, not entirely good for high-octane gameplay.

This is not the usual type of game I play, but I extremely enjoyed it! Good level of challenge with very diverse and interesting weapons, items, and enemies. Game mechanics are simple and intuitive but with a high-skill cap and scope for meaningful strategic decisions. Very highly replayable - I've ended up playing so far for over 86 hours! I look forward to future releases from this publisher.

Sick game, surprised there aren't more people playing it. Modding support from the ground up is always a massive plus but even with the content that the game has so far, it's just fun. Simple but fun. A lot of the resource management decisions and risk/reward weighing choices that make roguelites a fun genre appear in it. Already worth the money, but I can't wait to see what else is added.

Planetary Dustoff is a rogue-lite where you complete objectives on procedurally generated maps and fight bosses to reach new worlds. The game features both passive and activated items which can have positive or negative effects. It also features a wide variety of weapons(My personal favorite so far is the Lightning orb gun which resembles the "Frozen orb" skill from diablo 2). The movement and controls are spot on, which is necessary since the game is quite challenging. The music is great and the items and weapons are varied enough to keep each run fresh. All in all I would recommend this game to fans of the genre. It delivers what you would expect from a game like this and my impression is that it is very "finished" for early access.

If I have to pick positive or negative, it's just barely on the positive side. For the most part, the game is well and cleverly implemented. Sufficient variety of weapons and items gives a different-enough feel from run to run; the different 'planet' regions have enemies whose attack-patterns are understandable, but novel and different enough to require different tactics; the rewards or punishments for avoiding or taking damage feel mostly appropriate; the 'anti-item' mechanic (which could stand to be explained upfront) provides the right level of temptation and payoff such that losing a game by being 'too greedy' feels deserved. Small nitpicks can be made about hitbox clarity and the fact that item-loadout per run is a little *too* random; giving the player a little more strategic choice would feel better, because often one feels one just had no agency over whether one received a viable loadout or not. The issue that almost makes this game a non-recommend from me is that, as the game goes on and enemies start attacking from greater and greater distances, the game's visible region just becomes too small compared to the enemies' attack ranges. By the fourth planet, one is constantly being shot at with high-speed bullets from offscreen; if the enemies are located vertically relative to the player rather than horizontally, the problem is even worse due to the aspect ratio. Requiring tight control to avoid enemy fire is an appropriate mechanic, but the game limiting itself to a myopic zoomed-in resolution is not. In short, if you like this genre enough that a novel and well-executed but notably flawed game is appealing to you, it's not a bad one to pick up.

Welcome to the Space Faction, We hang out in Space. We want you to find a planet for us, so we can stop hanging out in Space. Planetary Dustoff is a 'roguelite' top down shooter similar to games such as Enter The Gungeon, Risk Of Rain, and Nuclear Throne. You go through a series of procedurally generated levels killing enemies, destroying objectives, and picking up items and weapons to aid you in your journey. Once you die you start over from the beginning, losing your weapons and items in the process. Currently in the early access version there are 6 levels + 3 boss levels, which you can theoretically get through fairly quickly, but the game is very hard, and would probably take a lot of hours to get good enough to beat it. The game also has a ton of different items and weapons right now, as well as different unlockable classes, which are different character loadouts you can start with. Another thing this game has in an "anti-item" system, which are items that you can pick up that actively make your character worse (for ex. can't heal, picking up guns hurts you, etc.) which you can exchange for real items at a shady merchant after the boss, giving you the option of making the game harder in hopes of getting rewarded in the future. I think the game controls really well, there is a big enemy variety, and while some guns feel samey, there still are a lot that feel unique. I would recommend this game if you enjoy hard games, and games like nuclear throne etc. DISCLAIMER: I have previously played a beta version of the game for free a bit before release, though my impressions are based on the release build which I bought myself through steam.

It's like someone took Ubermosh and made it into a roguelite, which is something that I always wanted to see. When an indie game allows you to rebind controller and keyboard, additional to having screen shake and fullscreen settings, it's usually a pretty good sign of overall quality (that tells me that developer cares). As a roguelite game, it's not doing anything that I would consider to be new or innovative, but at least it gets all of the basics right. I always complain when roguelites do not have "risk & reward" elements, but this game has a lot of opportunities to gamble. For example, you can trade your health and ammo for randomly generated items, or you can equip an item with a negative effect so you can trade it for something useful. Right now there are 3 planets with 6 stages, so there are 3 different environments and 3 bosses. You could beat it around 30 minutes, but I think it could take a few hours of practice to do so. Despite playing it for over 9 hours, I still have not discovered all of the weapons, so achievements would help a lot with replay value. There seems to be a good variety of random events, such as fighting optional enemies and occasionally running into characters that need your help. While the game has permadeath, you can visit a hub area between boss fights to replenish some ammo and hp. You can also unlock a couple of costumes that have different starting weapons and stats. Most importantly, there is a huge variety of ranged and melee weapons that are separated into 4 categories based on ammo. It may not be the most beautiful game out there, but the movement and visuals are relatively intuitive.
Pros:
+ good use of 'risk vs reward' + good variety of ranged and melee weapons + responsive gameplay + can rebind keyboard and controller (used 360) + different costumes + achievements
Cons:
- seldom glitches & crashes - only a few areas (no endless) Early Access State (1/March/2019) There are some occasional bugs which is expected with Early Access, not too bad though. Overall, it's a decent roguelite in terms of gameplay and randomly generated features, as long as you not looking for anything original. My main problem is the lack of endless mode, you can complete the current content under 1 hour (if you have skill to do so). However, the game is definitely above average when it comes to risk & reward, and I really appreciate those basic settings like controller binding and screen shake options. Title has a lot of promise and provides some good action gameplay, but the early game quickly becomes tedious due to lack of variation. At this point, I'd say hold off until more content is added. It's priced about the same as Enter the Gungeon, but doesn't stack up against that admittedly high bar in terms of content and polish at this point.
